Student answer (Band 5.5)

The better way to provide adeqate number of homes in big cities is to build tall apartments blocks. I partially agree with the given statement beacuse larger building would more perks for socialiation and it would save lands for agriculture and industrilization but it may effect the privacy of residents.

Living in the flat or apartment is more convinient for people to get socialize more easily. Nowadays people living in isolated homes or socities may face a lotof dipression and loneliness but living in an apartment of big city provides excessive chances of meeting and communicating to the people. For example, once I have visited my aunt living in an apartment in Karachi, it was one of my best experiences where I communicated with the neighbours and played games with them it was a kind of therapy for me.

Contruction of high end buildings would be beneficial for the community as it may provide a larger area for living in compressed land. It will be helpfull to save economy overall, by sharing same electricity meter and water severages. Furthermore it will allow to grow more green environments like public parks for fresh air and may promote cultivations nearby. Additionally, decreasing the number of towns and private societies for residence may allow huge land for industrilisation which in turn increase the economy of the country. Nevertheless, individuals living in an apartment blocks may have to sacrifies their privacy and peace. As there would always be hustle outside the door of flat and on the stairs or elevator. Moreover, the people with older age would have to face difficulties to walk for too long to exit the building gate. For example, it living in an apartment would be risky for the patient with cardio disorder.

In conclusion, building tall apartments block would be benefial for sociolization and would provide large sapces for industrilisation and culivation but it may effect privacy and peace of residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The candidate addresses all parts of the prompt by stating a partial position in the introduction and providing arguments for both agreement and disagreement. Ideas are presented regarding socialization, land saving, and the drawbacks of living in tall buildings, such as privacy loss and difficulties for the elderly. However, some arguments remain somewhat under-developed or simplistic, aligning best with a Band 6.0 performance. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of extension for each supporting point is moderate rather than comprehensive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an adequate overall arrangement. Logical progression is generally maintained, but cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transition in 'For example, once I have visited my aunt...' and occasional referencing issues. Paragraphing is used, though the second body paragraph is quite dense and could benefit from subdivision. Overall, the organizational structure is functional, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptors well.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary with words like 'industrialisation', 'cultivation', and 'socialization'. However, there are frequent spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'adeqate' instead of adequate, 'beacuse', 'convinient', 'helpfull', and 'sociolization'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, as the control over less common items lacks accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambitious structures such as 'Furthermore it will allow to grow more green environments...'. However, there are persistent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in flat or apartment', 'living in apartment'), incorrect prepositions ('with older age'), and structural awkwardness ('it living in an apartment would be risky'). These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, though meaning remains generally clear, placing the performance firmly at Band 5.5.
