Student answer (Band 5.0)

Now a days, people move to the cities for quality life and better future because of that a new problem arise which is shortage of accommodations. To solve this issue, government taking many initiatives among them builing tall apartment blocks are one of them.

In my perspective, building tall apartment block is an amazing solution for the residant who are living in the city because of that in a multi storey building can live thousands of people. On the other hand, they can build up a community there. For instance, if people lives in house it will take lot of space and in the house there will be staying four to six people on the other hand in a multi storey building there are a lot of apartment blocks and into these blocks people lives with their families. Because of that in one place handreds of family can stay.

On the flip side, when so many familiies living in a tall apartment blocks, there raise some safety issues also. For example, when earthquake occur at that time so many lives are in danger. Because of that the infrastructure should be storang so that any sort of natural calamities can be tackled by the building.

In contrast, the best way to provide enough homes in the large cities is to build tall apartment blocks in which I do agree. Because of that government can save a lot of space and also can give more accommodation to their citizens. In my perspective this is the best way to provide enough homes to their citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the extent of agreement with building tall apartment blocks to solve urban housing shortages. The position is clear, stating agreement in the introduction and concluding paragraph. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument about saving space and accommodating thousands of people is repeated across paragraphs without significant extension. The counterargument regarding safety and earthquakes is briefly introduced with an example, but overall, the task is addressed only partially in terms of depth and extension of ideas, placing it firmly at a Band 5.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and inadequate or inaccurate use of cohesive devices, such as the overuse of 'because of that' and 'on the other hand'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and paragraphing lacks smooth transitions between ideas, particularly in the conclusion which feels redundant. Overall, the organizational structure shows some logic but features mechanical cohesion, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, though it remains minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer relies on simple terms and makes noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Now a days' instead of 'Nowadays', 'builing' instead of 'building', 'residant' instead of 'residents', and 'handreds' instead of 'hundreds'. Attempts at less common vocabulary are minimal, and spelling mistakes occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, which aligns with a Band 5.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. The writer attempts some complex sentences, but these are frequently faulty or run-on, such as 'Now a days, people move to the cities for quality life and better future because of that a new problem arise which is shortage of accommodations.' There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'problem arise', 'people lives'), articles, and punctuation throughout the text. These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 descriptor.
