Student answer (Band 5.0)

The right way to provide maximum shelter to more people is to build apartment in tall building. I agree with this statement. This essay will cover the benefits of making tall building apartment with the help of relevant example by highlighting the salient features.

As, mostly in big cities like Islamabad there is large population that is residing within the city. So, it is not possible to build so many residential areas within the vicinity of the city. Moreover, CDA has proper layout plan for islamabad they don't allow everyone to build house without approval. There are proper CDA approved sector and housing socities where houses can be constructed.

On the other hand, to enhance the beauty of the capital i-e Islamabad there is proper plan for residencial and commerical areas. High raise building are mostly constructed to give overall asthetic look to the capital. To manage the enough homes mostly apartments are build in high raise building. For instance in Centauras and Ellysium Mall there are commerical area at ground and few floors whereas they have furnished apartments at the upper part of the multi-storey building.

According to the research done by University of California it is crystal clear that such a concept of multi-storey apartments in a single building accomodates maximum people and overall enhance the beauty of the building.

To conclude, no doubt this concept of giving homes to maximum number of people in tall or high raise building is best way and I strongly agree with this concept.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement and presenting ideas in support of building tall apartment blocks in large cities. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, the student mentions that 'max shelter' and 'accommodates maximum people' are benefits, and repeatedly references the beauty of Islamabad and specific local examples like the Centauras and Elysium Malls. While these examples are relevant, the reasoning is underdeveloped and relies on assertions rather than extended argument. Furthermore, the claim about a University of California research study is vague and lacks elaboration. Overall, the response meets the basic requirements of addressing all parts of the task, earning a band score of 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization, utilizing paragraphing to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, overall progression is limited by awkward transitions and disjointed sentences. For instance, the transition 'On the other hand' is misused, as the following paragraph does not present a contrasting view against tall buildings, but rather continues the supportive argument regarding the capital's aesthetic appeal. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, such as 'As, mostly in big cities' and 'i-e Islamabad'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical flow restricts the piece to a band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several word-choice errors and spelling inaccuracies throughout the text. Examples include 'residential' spelled as 'residencial', 'commercial' as 'commerical', 'aesthetic' as 'asthetic', 'high-rise' written as 'high raise', and 'accommodation' or 'accommodates' misspelled as 'accomodates'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'salient features' and 'aesthetic look', but noticeable errors in collocation and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the descriptors for band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak, with frequent errors that impede clarity at times. Examples of grammatical lapses include 'to provide maximum shelter to more people is to build apartment in tall building' (missing plural/article agreement), 'there is large population that is residing', and 'to manage the enough homes mostly apartments are build'. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, such as lower-case letters for 'islamabad'. Because frequent errors persist and complex structures are often faulty, the writing aligns with band 5.0.
