Student answer (Band 5.5)

The statement provides the information about the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. In my opinion it was a good idea to build tall apartment in large cities because it helps the majority of the large cities.

I agree with this statement as it also develops the tourism in the cities because the big apartments in the cities enhances the beauty of the city which stays in the people's heart and impressed the majority of the country. In addition it provides best view of the cities to the peoples that are living in the great apartments. In the foreign countries there are also many great apartments instead of having seprate homes on the ground. The tall apartments provides a group of staff that helps the customers. It also builts self confidence in the peoples tht are living in apartments because they all are together and their rooms are also very close to each other that makes the peoples of the apartment very freindly.

In addition, there are also many facilities in the large apartments like sports complex area, gaming area, swimming pool and many other equipments like gymnasium, table tennis, football club, dinning area, restaurants and their services that attracts the people to live in big appartments rather than living in a small house. But this way of providing home is also not very good at all beacuse some people cannot afford to buy house in appartments because they are much costly than having a seprate small home.

In conclusion, it is the best way to provide more home in large cities by building a great appartment but the cost factors may also in under consideration. Some peoples do not have much money to buy home in large appartments as there source of income was very less .We should also take care of the poor majority living in cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and presents a clear position throughout, acknowledging both the benefits and the drawbacks of building tall apartment blocks in large cities. The ideas presented, such as social interaction and community facilities, are relevant, though some arguments like tourism are somewhat tenuous and under-developed. Furthermore, the counter-argument regarding cost is introduced in the third paragraph and expanded in the conclusion. The writer attempts to cover all parts of the task, meeting the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition' and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, although referencing and linking can be somewhat repetitive and mechanical at times (e.g., repeatedly starting sentences with 'In addition'). Paragraphing is generally appropriate, ensuring an overall coherent arrangement that aligns well with the descriptors for a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'sports complex area', 'self confidence', and 'cost factors'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'seprate' instead of separate, 'builts' instead of builds, 'tht' instead of that, 'freindly' instead of friendly, 'dinning' instead of dining, 'appartments' instead of apartments, 'much costly' instead of much costlier or more expensive, and 'as there source' instead of their source. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing the vocabulary firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to form multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, prepositions, articles, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'it was a good idea' (tense shift), 'helps the majority of the large cities' (awkward phrasing), 'peoples' (incorrect pluralization of people), and 'may also in under consideration'. Punctuation is also occasionally neglected, such as missing spaces after periods. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear, meriting a Band 5.0.
