Student answer (Band 4.5)
probably i would see it in two different ways. well, its a great idea to build a tall appartments in order to provide maximum homes in big cities. goverenment should make a plan and well execution is a main thing. However, one tall building can have at least 200 rooms with proper facilities including electricity, water management etc. And this is possible in such a modern era where the world is trying to minimize the resources .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response only presents a very brief and superficial view regarding the proposition of building tall apartment blocks in large cities. While the writer touches on providing maximum homes and incorporating proper facilities, the ideas remain heavily under-developed due to the extreme brevity of the text. Furthermore, the length requirement of at least 250 words is severely unmet, as the response contains only 76 words. Consequently, the task cannot be fully or adequately addressed. This results in a low band score under the Task Achievement descriptors, which require well-developed ideas and full coverage of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response lacks a clear logical progression and proper paragraphing structure, which is partly a result of its severe length limitations. The writing starts with a conversational remark ('probably i would see it in two different ways') rather than a formal academic introduction. Although some cohesive devices such as 'However' are attempted, the overall organisation is disjointed. Transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the ideas do not build coherently toward a well-supported conclusion. There is no clear paragraph structure, falling short of the requirements for higher bands.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with clear limitations in range and precision. The student successfully uses some fundamental vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'apartment blocks', 'electricity', and 'water management'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation issues, such as 'well execution is a main thing' instead of 'proper execution is key'. Spelling and capitalization errors are also present, such as 'appartments' and 'goverenment'. Because the range of vocabulary is restricted and contains noticeable errors, it aligns best with the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex forms. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('probably', 'well', 'goverenment'). Grammatical control is weak, as seen in awkward phrasing like 'its a great idea to build a tall appartments' (combining a contraction, an indefinite article, and a plural noun incorrectly). While the meaning is generally understandable despite these flaws, the high frequency of basic errors prevents the score from rising higher.
