Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide homes in large cities. However, the position is confused and contradictory, as the writer states both that they agree and later that they disagree with the statement. Ideas are limited, highly repetitive, and under-developed, relying on weak arguments about social status and police corruption rather than urban planning or housing demand. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 224 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. These factors significantly limit the development of the task, resulting in a band score of 4.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The organisation of the text is severely hindered by a lack of proper paragraphing and extremely weak overall cohesion. The response is essentially composed of two run-on blocks of text without clear logical progression or transitions. Referencing is frequently unclear, and sentences are strung together using basic conjunctions such as 'and' and 'becouse'. There is no effective use of cohesive devices to guide the reader through a structured argument. The chaotic arrangement of ideas means that information is not presented coherently, warranting a band score of 4.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily flawed. The writer relies on simple words like 'good', 'nice', 'house', and 'cities', while attempts at less common vocabulary result in non-standard phrases such as 'resnable price' and 'police. when you built the apartment they come and says give money'. Word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are pervasive throughout the text. These lexical limitations and frequent errors frequently strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning, matching the descriptors for a band score of 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of poorly constructed simple and run-on compound sentences. There is a complete lack of accurate complex structures. Punctuation is largely absent or misused, with sentences starting with lowercase letters and clauses run together without proper periods or commas. Grammatical errors are highly frequent, including severe tense inconsistencies, subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the house neend'), and incorrect prepositions. These pervasive errors frequently distort meaning and make the text difficult to read, corresponding to a band score of 4.0.
