Student answer (Band 5.0)

Homes play a vital role in our society.I think the better way to give enough houses in big urban areas is to construct tall apartments sections.I completely agree with this opinion because tall building cover the less area and its advantages are more.

To commence with, today we are living in a modern era .Population is increasing day by day.Mostly the people are become homeless due to this issue.I think the the big storeys building is the best option for us to overcome from this issues. The first major benefit is that it cover the less area of land and provides citizens to variety of facilities. For instance ,a person income is not enough to cover its other daily expenses so these apartments are best option for him to living. The second reason is that the rent of such kind of building is quite low as compared to the other houses of the city.A middle class person can easily afford this rent.

On the other hand ,the large storeys buildings cover all the modern facilties like free wifi , big led screens, small shoping mall and friendly environment. All the people who are living in these apartments are well educated and kindness. So they provide the other people good ecosystems. If you want to educate your children well then you should choose these kinds of building for living. All these buildings are noise free because it is constructed far away from the main city.So these .are also less polluted .

In a nutshell, the tall buildings are essential nowadays in every big city. This is due to these kinds of apartments are full of modern facilities with minimum amount of rent.So such type of building can hold the many people in limited area of land.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in agreement with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in large cities. The writer introduces relevant ideas, such as land conservation, affordability, and the inclusion of modern amenities. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For example, points like 'friendly environment' and 'well educated and kindness' are stated rather than properly extended or supported with convincing elaboration. While the main stance is maintained throughout, the supporting arguments lack depth and rely on sweeping generalisations. This performance aligns best with the Band 5 descriptors, as the task is addressed, but the ideas remain underdeveloped and somewhat repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at logical organisation. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, repetitive phrasing, and poor paragraph internal flow. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and basic way, such as 'To commence with,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In a nutshell.' Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the links between sentences do not always create a smooth flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal grouping of ideas lacks overall cohesion. These features are characteristic of Band 5, where there is some overall structure, but logical progression and cohesive management remain problematic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'big', 'good', and 'house'. There are several noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'tall apartments sections', 'overcome from this issues', 'cover the less area', and 'well educated and kindness'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'modern era' and 'ecosystems', but these are often used inaccurately or inappropriately. Spelling and word formation errors also occur throughout the text. Because the lexical range is limited and the errors cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader, this response fits the Band 5 descriptor profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences. However, attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to noticeable structural errors such as 'a person income is not enough to cover its other daily expenses so these apartments are best option for him to living' and 'due to these kinds of apartments are full'. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and verb forms (e.g., 'Mostly the people are become homeless', 'it cover the less area'). Although these errors do not completely obscure the core message, they occur with high frequency and cause considerable strain for the reader, placing the grammar securely at Band 4.5, which rounds to Band 5.
