Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that the better way to provide enough homes in large urban areas is to develop tall apartment blocks. I strongly agree with this point, and will explain it in upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, the main reason why I agree is that it makes city more wider and comfortable. In other words, there are lot of traffic Congection in urban areas, so if more houses are building in urban areas than it increases rush. For instance a survey conducted by urban administration in Pakistan in 2022 revealed that 40%, pollution increased due to to rise of more buildings and population in urban areas. Therefore, this shows that government should try to develop houses in tall apartments rather than small buildings.
Another important reason is that by developing more tall apartments rather than houses are beneficial for employees that migrates from other cities in search of employment. Moreover, they all rent these apartments easily, than houses which cause financial benefits for them. For example, a famous newspaper reported that every years many people lived on footpath because they do not have money to buy expensive houses. As a result, especially in busy urban places government should ban to build huge houses.
In conclusion, I believe that by making tall apartment in urban areas is beneficial for both residents and visitors. Moreover, with the help of these apartments cost of living should decrease a lot as compare to houses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. Ideas are presented in body paragraphs, such as traffic reduction and benefits for employees migrating to cities. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and contains confused logic, such as claiming that building houses increases pollution by 40% based on a cited survey. Additionally, the student's response contains 241 words, which fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words. This shortcoming directly impacts the overall fullness of the task completion, resulting in a band score of 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing a basic structural progression. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as "To begin with," "Another important reason," and "In conclusion." However, referencing and paragraph cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, and the logical progression within body paragraphs is weakened by unclear phrasing and abrupt shifts in thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but overall cohesion suffers from repetitive structures and imprecise transitions, aligning with a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, touching on relevant concepts like "urban areas," "employment," and "cost of living." However, there is a limited range with noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include "traffic Congection" (congestion), "houses are building" (being built), and "migrates" instead of "migrate". The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but inaccurate usage and spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the lexical control solidly at a band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using conditional and relative clauses like "so if more houses are building... than it increases rush." However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ("every years many people lived"), incorrect prepositions, and awkward phrasing ("government should ban to build"). While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they occur frequently throughout the response and prevent the writer from achieving a higher band score, supporting a band 5.0.
