Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this modern era everyone wishes to have a home in large cities as the urban life provides lots of facilities. As more people migrate to cities, the places to build houses are shinking rapidly. one of the way to counter this problem is to build tall buildings and its can be very helpful until some extents.
The best way to save space and build the maximum houses is to bulid tall appartments block and it can be seen in so many modern large cities. Many appartments can be build on a small peice of land and it can save lots of space. Unlike the traditional houses, a single house take a huge space for the garage, varanda, backyard and a house itself a multi-storey building can provide all the basic amenities in the limited space. This tall buildings can not only used for housing but also for diffrent purposes like shopping mall, cafes, hospitals and much more amenities can be providedin a single building.
Tall building can have lots of basic facilities within the same buildings and many modern building now have all the basic amenities like barber shop, grocery shop, and vegetable shop within them. This can also help in saving lots of time and fuel as we do not have to travel far to accese this facilities. But in contrast, many people preffer to have a house in there own plots because of many possible reasons like privacy and open enviroment which we cant accese in apartments. People who have spend most of time in the normal houses find difficult to adapt the apartments systems.
In conclusion, building tall apartments blocks have been the best way to build more houses in limited space and I firmly believe more and more tall buildings should be made to save the spaces in big cities where the space is limetd.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that tall apartment blocks are a very helpful solution for housing shortages in large cities, though with some acknowledged limitations regarding privacy and lifestyle preferences. The ideas are generally relevant, such as saving space and integrating amenities like grocery shops and cafes within the same building structure. However, some arguments lack deep extension, and the development of ideas tends to repeat points about space-saving and basic facilities rather than exploring broader socio-economic or urban planning aspects. Nevertheless, a clear overall stance is maintained throughout the essay, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate main ideas, such as the benefits of space-saving versus the drawbacks of lacking privacy. However, cohesion at the sentence level is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with instances of confusing referencing or repetitive connectors. For example, expressions like 'one of the way' and 'This tall buildings' show minor mechanical errors in cohesion and pronoun agreement. Paragraph transitions are somewhat abrupt, but the logical flow remains generally understandable throughout the response, fitting the standard of a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'urban life', 'amenities', and 'traditional houses'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that detract from precision, such as 'shinking' instead of shrinking, 'bulid' instead of build, 'appartments' instead of apartments, 'peice' instead of piece, 'varanda' instead of veranda, 'accase' instead of access, and 'limetd' instead of limited. Although these errors are frequent, they do not severely impede communication because the context remains clear, placing the lexical performance solidly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures (e.g., 'As more people migrate to cities, the places to build houses are shrinking rapidly'). However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('a single house take', 'This tall buildings can not only used'), article misuse ('to the extent'), and spelling-related errors. While complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty, and errors require the reader to occasionally reread parts of sentences. This performance aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
