It is often consider that, the best way to provide enough houses in urban areas is to construct apartment blocks. One of the positive effects building tall apartment blocks offer is convenient migration for employment and education. People from various area including from both rural and urban area prefer to migrate to new bigger cities for new opportunities and experience. If there is enough homes in those cities, it will make easier for people to settle in new places and seek for new opportunities. Futhermore, when there is a tall apartment blocks instead of many smaller houses in a city, it will occupy less area. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating their complete agreement with the proposition of building tall apartment blocks to solve housing shortages in large cities. They present supporting arguments regarding migration, employment opportunities, and land efficiency. However, the response falls short of the minimum 250-word requirement, containing only 237 words. This under-length limitation restricts the full development and extension of ideas, particularly in the body paragraphs where points remain somewhat generalised and brief. Consequently, while the position is clear and relevant ideas are present, the overall task completion is impacted by the word count deficiency. This warrants a band score of 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays an identifiable overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct ideas, such as migration benefits in the second paragraph and land-use efficiency in the third. However, logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and somewhat mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'Futhermore' and 'Consequenty'. Referencing is not always entirely precise, and the flow between sentences can feel disjointed at times. Despite these flaws, the text remains coherent overall, and the general direction of the argument is easy to follow, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'urban areas', 'international residents', and 'state authorities'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('consider' instead of considered, 'facilities' instead of facilitate, 'Consequenty', 'Futhermore', 'apartmant') and awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'availability of places to live' and 'building essential for hospital'. While the writer attempts less common lexical items, these inaccuracies indicate a limited control over word formation and spelling, capping the lexical score at a Band 5.5 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures ('If there is enough homes in those cities, it will make easier...') and relative clauses. However, grammar and punctuation accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('there is a tall apartment blocks', 'there is enough homes'), incorrect article usage, and prepositional mistakes ('living in a same apartment'). These errors require some effort from the reader to interpret, although they do not completely impede overall communication. This performance fits the Band 5.5 descriptors.
