Student answer (Band 5.5)
It has been observed that high raised buildings becoming very popular now a days. Some people advocate that construct tall buildings to overcome home shortage is better choice rather than having single story houses. I firmly agree with the given statement therefore my inclination is elaborated in the ensuing paragraphs with some relevant examples.
The foremost argument to support my stand is that vertical homes accommodate a large no of individuals in relatively lass area. For instance, Due to rapidly growing population in Rawalpindi and Islamabad government take step to build flats for hundreds of peoples in small land, in this case they use some land for park and gym as well. Secondly, these tall apartments also have the facility of public transport nearby. For example, In Pakistan number of big cities have easy access to mero stations so the residents can travel anywhere within city in less cost.
In contrary, some people believe that single story houses provides more privacy because they don't have shared walls. The other main reason is private gardens significantly more comfortable and convenient for geriatrics. To exemplify, people usually have small gardens in the surrounding walls of their homes where they can enjoy their evenings tea while grandchildren are playing around them, significantly more comfortable and convenient for geriatrics.
To conclude the discussion, Both options have some pros and cons however i believe that due to rapidly growing population big verticals buildings are life line to accommodate people in modest area in minimum cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and well-developed position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The main ideas, such as accommodating larger populations in smaller areas and proximity to public transport, are supported with relevant examples like the situation in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Although the counter-argument regarding single-story houses and privacy is briefly introduced, the student maintains a strong overall focus and successfully justifies their stance. The progression of ideas is logical and fully satisfies the prompt requirements, matching the standard expected at Band 6.5 to 7.0. Therefore, a band score of 6.5 is awarded as all parts are addressed with clear supporting ideas, despite minor generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs supporting the main stance, a counter-argument paragraph, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'The foremost argument', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude the discussion' are used to guide the reader through the text, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, and overall, the structural progression ensures the essay flows well from start to finish, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'accommodate', 'rapidly growing population', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'high raised buildings' instead of 'high-rise buildings', 'construct tall buildings' instead of 'constructing tall buildings', and 'less cost' instead of 'lower cost'. Spelling and word form errors, such as 'lass area' instead of 'less area', are present but do not impede overall communication. This performance aligns well with Band 6.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The student attempts complex structures with clauses, such as 'Due to rapidly growing population in Rawalpindi and Islamabad government take step to build flats...', but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors, including missing articles, incorrect verb tenses, and subject-verb agreement issues. For instance, 'government take step' and 'single story houses provides' demonstrate basic inaccuracies. Punctuation is also occasionally neglected. Because the errors occur frequently within complex structures, the profile matches Band 5.5.
