Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people thinks to build tall apartment blocks is the best way for providing enough homes in large cities. in my perspective i largely disagree with this statement.

There are few disdvantage. first major disadvantage is lack of privacy. due to that people not comfortable on their private life and job life , may they facing some anxiety , depression and Suffocation. and they did jot able to do theri work properly casue Apartments offer less space on building. For example : In some of the city's older areas students and workers has stay on the tall apartment blocks. due to that they did not able to concentration for theri study and work so might , they suffer some mental health problems. and also they would never have been able to connect with urban areas. One more disadvantage is Overcrowding. Tall buildings can increase population density and put pressure on public services. cause they have no limited space and as we discuss might they alck on their privacy.

Moreover , Environmental concerns is also the biggest threat for tall apartment blocks. High-rise construction consumes large amounts of energy and resources. such as electricity , water supply , clean environment. so i think governemtn should do better in Infrastructure such as More residents require better roads and better length , public transport, schools, hospitals, and water supply. and this is the governemtn and public responsiblity to keep them well maintain.

In conclusion , i largely disagree to build a tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities.there are some drawbacks such as ack of privacy , Overcrowding , Environmental concerns.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student addresses the task by clearly stating a position of disagreement regarding tall apartment blocks as the best solution for urban housing. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as privacy issues, overcrowding, and environmental concerns. However, these ideas are underdeveloped and lack adequate extension or robust real-world examples. For instance, the mention of students and workers staying in older areas lacks clarity and specific support. While a clear stance is maintained throughout, the reasoning tends to generalise without sufficient depth or elaboration. Consequently, the response aligns best with the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs discussing distinct disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, the overall logical progression is frequently disrupted by mechanical and repetitive cohesive devices, such as the overuse of 'due to that' and 'and also'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is faulty, and referencing is often unclear, as seen in confusing pronoun use and abrupt transitions between sentences. There is also a lack of smooth progression of ideas, particularly within the second body paragraph. These features reflect the characteristics of a Band 5.0 performance.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'population density', 'high-rise construction', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'Suffocation', 'did jot able to do theri work', and 'governemtn should do better in Infrastructure'. Spelling errors ('disdvantage', 'casue', 'theri', 'ack') occur frequently throughout the text. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. Grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('Many people thinks', 'Environmental concerns is'), missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and pervasive capitalization and punctuation issues (e.g., spaces before commas, lowercase 'i'). Complex structures attempted by the student are consistently flawed, which frequently causes difficulty for the reader and prevents the response from reaching a higher band. This performance corresponds to a Band 4.0.
