Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. However, the task achievement is severely restricted by the length of the response. The text contains only 119 words, falling well short of the mandatory 250-word minimum. Because of this major under-length penalty, the ideas are severely underdeveloped, lacking concrete examples, detailed explanations, and a fully articulated position. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, which aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay attempts a basic logical structure by introducing the topic and providing an opening body paragraph. However, Coherence and Cohesion are heavily impacted by the fragmented structure and abrupt stopping of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the second paragraph breaks off mid-thought ("in the following pararaph i will explain in notion"). Cohesive devices are minimal and mechanical, relying on basic connectors like "To begin with first idea". Referencing is at times unclear, leading to an overall lack of clear progression, which is characteristic of Band 4.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The student displays a basic vocabulary suitable for simple communication, using terms such as "population", "urban areas", and "space". However, there is a high frequency of inappropriate word choices and spelling errors, such as "istead" instead of instead, "alot" instead of a lot, and "contruct" instead of constructed. The range of vocabulary is narrow and repetitive, preventing the precise expression of ideas. While meaning is occasionally conveyed, the errors strain the reader and reflect the Band 4.0 lexical profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The text relies heavily on simple sentence structures alongside very basic attempts at complex sentences, such as "As population is increasing day by day it has become quite difficult...". There is an almost complete absence of correct punctuation, and numerous grammatical errors are present, including missing articles ("build home", "good way"), run-on sentences, and incorrect verb forms. These frequent errors often distort meaning and impede smooth reading, placing the grammatical performance firmly at Band 4.0.
