Student answer (Band 5.0)
The above statement that emphasis on the devolopement of big apartment blocks in main cities is an efficient way, I agree with the following statement. As in today's world many of the countries with big cities face housing problems. Where the rent is becoming expensive day by day, as the demand for the housing is increasing and the supply is limited. Which creates a housing crises. For instance in Ireland especially Dublin, which is a main city is currently undergoing with a housing crises.
One of the famous housing crises is of Ireland's housing crises as it's facing housing shortages as I personally was looking to pursue my masters in Ireland but due to the expensive rent and not being able find a proper accomodation over there i decided to not go for it as in the news i saw that they are facing major housing crises and the rent is not worth it with the space that they are offering. Like if i have to give you a birds eye view of the situation over there is that a one bedroom apartment's rent typically starts from 400 euros in Germany, France or Spain is listed on the Ireland real estate market around 800 euros. Which is a lot pricer than the accomodation that is available in other countries in Europe. The cost of living in Ireland's city Dublin is way more expensive that other parts of the Europe.
Due to this reason i decided not to pursue my masters over there. According to the statement i agree that in order to deal with housing problems and to provide enough homes devolopement of tall apartments and implementation of this infrastructure helps in this crises for major cities on the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by stating a clear position of agreement with the statement regarding tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas leans heavily on a personal anecdote rather than fully extended general arguments. The student mentions the housing shortage and rising rents in Dublin, using personal experience as a prospective master's student to illustrate the point. While this relates to the topic, the ideas remain somewhat limited and repetitive, lacking broader societal examples or deeper exploration of urban planning. Therefore, it meets the criteria for Band 5.5, showing a clear stance and relevant ideas, though the support is overly personal and under-developed for higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organization, but paragraphing and logical progression are weak. The entire body of the text is divided into only two long paragraphs, with the second paragraph running on with multiple distinct ideas about the housing crisis, personal anecdotes, and European rent comparisons without clear internal structuring. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate or conversational, such as starting sentences with 'Which creates a housing crises' and 'Like if i have to give you a birds eye view'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, leading to a choppy reading experience. This aligns with Band 5.0, as there is some organization but no clear overall progression and flawed cohesive management.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating the basic message, but the range is limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic terms such as 'big cities', 'expensive rent', and 'housing crises'. There are also several spelling and word-choice errors, including 'devolopement' instead of development, 'accomodation', 'pricer' instead of pricier, and awkward collocations like 'undergoing with a housing crises'. Less common lexical items are attempted but lack precision and accuracy. Because the errors do not severely impede overall comprehension, the response sits comfortably within Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, heavily featuring simple sentences and frequent run-on constructions linked by punctuation errors or relative pronouns like 'Which'. For example, sentences such as 'Which creates a housing crises' and 'Like if i have to give you a birds eye view of the situation over there is that a one bedroom apartment's rent typically starts...' demonstrate a breakdown in basic sentence boundaries and clause structure. Frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and verb tenses cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. This performance aligns with the Band 5 descriptor, where attempts at complex sentences are often faulty and frequent errors persist.
