Student answer (Band 5.5)
I completely agree with this statement that best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
Because as we know cities are a place full of hustle bustle and the nosie of market with a lot of things going around there factories hospitals malls and visiting places that take up most spaces and to provide enough space for the people to live tall buildings are perfect, they can be home to many with taking up as less space as possible and leaving places enough to build more too. There can be also Echo friendly building complex that will do no harm to the environment in fact will be a great benefit for earth as well. Also, those building can take up less space and leave more space for planting trees making playground for kids to play in evening and elder civilisation to walk for their health and the youngsters to play with their friends and cycles around which is goo for health as well an advantage for both people living there and the earth, saves it from destruction fo trees
Also there will be less of a joined community which is full of houses and the noise form ongoing traffic living in a complex building of apartment is much better as its away form road and provides a privacy and scrutiny for people to unwind after they come back from work. Living in a same environment also make you bond with your neighbours exchanging dishes whenever someone cooked something also increases socialising and keeps you aware of your surroundings.
in conclusion, i would say that there should be projects like this, that can help the human beings as well as our earth rather than destroying it and it is also very smart idea and saves te forests from being destroyed as well

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in large cities. The writer supports this stance with relevant ideas, such as space-saving benefits for parks and eco-friendly complexes. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deeper extension or academic support. For instance, the discussion on green spaces and community bonding touches on good points but remains underdeveloped and conversational in tone. According to the Band 6 descriptors, the task is addressed with relevant ideas, though some aspects are under-developed or repetitive. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance maintained throughout. However, paragraphing is weak and non-standard; the body paragraphs are excessively long and run-on, combining multiple distinct points without adequate separation. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, sentences often string together using comma splices or basic conjunctions like 'Because as we know' and 'Also, those building... Also there will be... in conclusion, i would say'. Reference words can also be ambiguous at times. These features align with the Band 5 to Band 6 descriptors, where logical progression is hindered by mechanical cohesion and poor paragraphing. A band score of 5.5 reflects these limitations.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'hustle bustle', 'scrutiny', and 'eco-friendly', but control is inconsistent. There are numerous word choice errors and typos throughout the text, including 'nosie' instead of noise, 'fo trees' instead of of trees, 'form' instead of from, and 'goo' instead of good. While these lexical inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary to a minimally adequate range with noticeable errors. This performance fits the Band 5 descriptor criteria well, as the vocabulary is limited and contains frequent errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. The essay is dominated by very long, run-on sentences connected by conjunctions, lacking proper punctuation and full stops. Examples include the opening sentence and the extensive middle paragraph which features massive run-on structures. Frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('living in a same environment'), subject-verb agreement issues ('those building can take'), and incorrect preposition usage, are noticeable. Because the mix of structures contains frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader, this performance earns a band score of 5.0.
