Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's evolving world to cater to the hosuing needs of people in urban area's is to develop vertical apartment blocks. I strongly agree becuase many people can live in a small area. Moreover apartments are more affordable and convenient.
High rise buildings are best way to deal with excessive need of homes for people using minimum land. vertical apartments is more affordable and aeccessible and provide maximum space for people in cities. Nowadays, large number of population prefer living in cities due to better work opportunities, schools and other facilities. leading a shortage of housing. Government should enourge and develop tall buildings to deal with this situation. This development will help alot of people without damaging agriculture land. For example many countries in asia adopted horizontal housing, expanding urban areas into rural regions and causing the loss of valuable fertile land. Losing farmland is a inescapable loss.
Moreover, apartments in tall buildings are more affordable and convinent for new immigrants. people dont have to worry much about security and other facilites. In addition water, electricity and public transport can be serve more residents in one area.
Living in one building with different building might be challanging for some individuals because of certain rules and limited privacy. For example living in same building may compromise residents privacy, particularly when balconies and windows face one another.
In conclusion, despite the privacy limilation In my opinion benefits of vertical buldings outweigh the drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks and supports this with reasons such as space efficiency, affordability, and the protection of agricultural land. However, the response falls short of the minimum 250-word requirement, clocking in at 241 words. This under-length issue directly impacts the level of idea development, leading to some points feeling slightly underdeveloped or repetitive. For instance, the discussion on affordability and convenience is brought up multiple times without substantial new expansion. Furthermore, there are minor task-related omissions in terms of fully fleshing out counter-arguments. Consequently, the score reflects a partial penalty for failing to meet the length requirement while acknowledging that the core task is addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is attempted, grouping ideas about benefits versus drawbacks, although paragraph breaks are sometimes abrupt or contain disjointed sentences. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'For example', but their application can feel somewhat mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'Living in one building with different building might be challanging', which disrupts the logical flow. Overall, the organizational structure is present, but progression and cohesion require tighter control to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'urban areas', 'excessive need', and 'inescapable loss'. However, there are frequent spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the writing, including 'hosuing', 'area's', 'becuase', 'aeccessible', 'enourge', 'alot', 'convinent', 'dont', 'serve' (instead of served), and 'limilation'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the lexical resource from achieving a higher score. Greater attention to basic spelling and word formation is required.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses ('Nowadays, large number of population prefer living in cities due to...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and article usage. Examples include 'large number of population' (missing article), 'vertical apartments is' (agreement error), and incomplete sentence boundaries. Punctuation is particularly problematic, with missing periods and commas leading to run-on structures. These persistent errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the response squarely within the Band 5 descriptor range.
