Student answer (Band 5.0)
Home is the one of the most essential need of human beings. There is an opinion that tall buildings fulfill the requirement of homes in bigger cities. I can agree that vertical cities are bettter than the spread cities.
The main bebefit of vertical redidential units is that it can take less space. Because if everyone in the city can make his own separate home, the more space can be used and building a home is very cost effective, not everyone can afford it. On the other hand, on tall building can provide home to thousands of families. I am assure of that the vertical cities will be the future of the world.
Another important thing if government want to homeless people in the cities, so tall buildings are better alternatives of homes. To some extent, government build apartments in vertical building than rent them to people, in this way government can also generate revenue and homeless families are decreased as well. Because most of the people are capable to pay rent but are not able to afford their own homes.
There is one more thing tall building can also reduce the security concerns in the town. In horizontal towns the homes are build far away from each other, so people do not know whats going on with their neighbours. On the hand, in vertical cities apartments or flats build side by side. So, people can feel secure.
In conclusion, homes are necessary for all humans, but still there are many homeless people in the world. Legal authorities need to take a intiative to build tall residential units, these are less cost effective and it also generate more homes for people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the extent to which tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in large cities. The writer takes a clear position in the introduction, stating that vertical cities are better than spread cities. Several main ideas are presented, such as land efficiency, cost effectiveness, revenue generation for governments, and enhanced security. However, these ideas are somewhat limited in scope and underdeveloped. For example, the point about security is introduced but lacks depth or concrete examples. The conclusion restates the main position, fulfilling the basic requirements of the task. Because the ideas are presented and a clear stance is maintained despite some lack of full development, the writing fits the Band 5 criteria well.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and unclear referencing. For instance, phrases like 'Another important thing if government want to homeless people' and 'There is one more thing tall building can also reduce' are repetitive and mechanical. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or inaccurate, such as 'On the hand' used twice instead of 'On the other hand'. While there is some underlying organization relating to different arguments, the overall cohesion is faulty and impedes smooth reading, placing it firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is a mix of basic and minimally adequate terms. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'cost effective', 'residential units', and 'alternative', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'bebefit' instead of 'benefit', 'redidential', and 'intiative'. Phrases like 'spread cities' and 'take less space' lack natural collocation. There is noticeable repetition of basic words like 'home', 'people', and 'cities'. These lexical limitations and frequent spelling and word-choice errors that cause some difficulty for the reader align with the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures. While there are a few attempts at complex sentences, such as 'Because if everyone in the city can make his own separate home, the more space can be used', they are frequently faulty and ungrammatical. There are persistent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text, including 'Home is the one of the most essential need', 'on tall building can provide', and 'government build apartments in vertical building than rent them'. Punctuation errors are also present, such as missing commas and run-on structures. Frequent errors that cause some difficulty for the reader justify a Band 5 score.
