Student answer (Band 5.0)

The most effective way to provide enough hauses in metro cities is to construct big appartments.

I mostly agree with this idea. I have given my reasons below.

There are several advanteges of building big story appartments in the big cities. It is very practical to give people enough homes without taking a large plot as bunglows. Basically, in metro cities there are more numbers of people than samller ones in order to gain opportunity and earn more money due to this there is a very high demand of homes. to fullfill the desire of reasources it is very important to construct enough houses. in contrast, there is not as much as land as required to build the living resource. as a result the most easiest and cheapest way for authorities is to build appartments. Moreover, high story building consume the least space and give house to a huge number of famillies. there are also other numbers of possitives of these plan as it provide home to many people at lower coast than houses because the construction charge to build towers is lower than house. in addition to that many have dream to buy their own house in big city . because of this many can fullfill their dream of own a house.Lastly, we also don't need to cut trees as it consume less space.

there are some drawbacks as well like because of this high story buildings many owners of bunglows or ground houses don't get enogh sun light as it is blocked by buildings. Furthermore, the flat owners dont get their own house or land.

in conclusion, i believe that there are more benefits than draw

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task by expressing a clear position of agreement regarding the construction of tall apartment blocks in large cities. Main ideas are presented, such as land conservation, cost-effectiveness, and environmental benefits, along with brief counter-arguments regarding sunlight and lack of land ownership. However, several ideas remain under-developed and lack thorough explanation or extended examples, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The response is somewhat repetitive and trails off abruptly in the conclusion ('draw'). Nevertheless, a clear stance is maintained throughout, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The organization of the essay shows an overall logical progression, moving from an introduction to supporting body paragraphs and a brief conclusion. However, the paragraphing is problematic; the second paragraph is exceptionally short, and the main body paragraph is a massive block containing multiple distinct ideas that should be separated. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or misused, as seen with phrases like 'due to this there is' and 'in contrast, there is not as much as land as required'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, leading to a choppy flow. These issues align well with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas about housing and cities, but it suffers from frequent spelling mistakes ('hauses', 'appartments', 'advanteges', 'possitives', 'coast', 'enogh') and word-choice errors ('living resource', 'ground houses'). While the student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'metro cities' and 'cost-effectiveness' concepts, the high frequency of spelling errors and limited range of precise academic vocabulary restrict the score. The lexical control is inconsistent, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing punctuation, run-on sentences, incorrect prepositions, and subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'building consume', 'flat owners dont', 'i believe'). Punctuation is particularly neglected, with missing capital letters at the beginnings of sentences and incomplete concluding sentences. These recurring errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, matching the criteria for a Band 5.0 score.
