Student answer (Band 5.5)

REVOLUTIONARY ADVANCE IN URBANISATION. SOME ARGUE THAT BUILD TALL APARTMENT BLOCKS AND BUILDING IS CONVENIENT AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO PROVIDE ENOUGH HOMES IN LARGE CITIES. I AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT ABOUT THIS PHENOMENON BECAUSE IN BIG CITIES LARGE POPULATION RESIDE IN SMALL AREA AND LIMITED LAND RESOURSE FOR RESIDENTIAL APARTMENTS.

ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY I AGREE IS THAT SINGLE-STORED HOME CONSUME SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF LAND AND MONEY IN HIGHLY DEMANDED AREA IN MEGA CITIES SUCH AS THE NEW YORK, MUMBAI, TOKYO AND LONDON. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, IN CITIES LARGE NUMBER OF POPULATION LIVING IN NARROW AREA, SO HIGHRISE BUILDING OFFERS ENOUGH SPACE AND HOMES FOR CITIZENS. ADDITIONALLY, MANY INDIVIDUALS PREFER LIVING IN THE CENTRAL AREA OF CITIES BECAUSE THEIR CHILDREN STUDY THERE, WHILE THEY ALSO WORKING IN THE SAME AREA. TO EXEMPLIFY, IN TOKYO PEOPLE FIND BETTER JOB OPPORTUNITIES, MODERN FACILITIES AND PROMINENT WORK-LIFE BALANCE. AS A RESULT, APPROXIMATELY 30% OF TOTAL POPULATION OF JAPAN LIVING IN THERE.

ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT REASON IS THAT SKYSRAPERS BUILDING OFFERS SAVERAL MODERN AND ADVANCE FEATURES. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, TALL APRATMENT BLOCKS OFFERS GREATER SECURITY LIKE CCTV CAMERAS, AS WELL AS ELEVATORS. MOREOVER, THEY OFTEN FEATURE MODERN INTERIOR DESINGS AND WELL-DEVELOPED EXTERNAL INFRASTRUCTURE. CONSEQUENTLY, MULTI STOREY REQUIRE LESS LAND AREA COMAPRE TO SINGLE STOREY HOUSEHOLDS. GOVERNMENT BUILD PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE AND AREA LIKE CHILDREN PLAY AREA, CINEMA, PARKING SPACE FOR INDIVIDUALS BECAUSE OF REDUCE THE LAND DEMAND FOR HOMES IN CITIES. SECONDLY, SINGLE STOREY HOMES CONSUME LARGE AREA OF LAND THAT CAUSE OF HIGH PRICE IN REAL-ESTATE ESPECIALLY IN METRO CITIES.

IN CONLUSION, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH ABOVE AGREEMENT ABOUT THE TALL APRATMENT BLOCKS MAY REDUCE SAVERAL LAND AND RESIDENTIAL PROBLEM IN MEGA CITIES.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a position agreeing with the statement, supporting it with reasons such as land conservation, population density, and modern amenities in tall buildings. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding the scarcity of land and real estate prices. The student mentions examples like Tokyo and New York, but these are underdeveloped. While all parts of the task are addressed, the arguments lack depth and extension. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 6.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, and an overall progression is attempted, though it is sometimes hindered by mechanical transitions and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'TO BE MORE SPECIFIC' and 'ADDITIONALLY', but they are sometimes overused or awkwardly placed. Paragraphing is present to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, though the flow between ideas can feel disjointed due to frequent structural and punctuation issues. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, matching Band 5.5 to 6.0 criteria, leaning safely towards a Band 5.5 due to mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'urbanisation', 'phenomenon', 'skyscraper', and 'infrastructure', but there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'RESOURSE', 'SINGLE-STORED', 'SAVERAL', 'DESINGS', and 'CONLUSION'. These errors, combined with awkward collocations like 'BUILD TALL APARTMENT BLOCKS AND BUILDING', indicate a limited control of lexical features. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic meaning, the frequency of spelling mistakes places this firmly in the Band 5.0 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is heavily marred by grammatical inaccuracies. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and tense consistency, such as 'LARGE POPULATION RESIDE', 'POPULATION LIVING', 'SKYSRAPERS BUILDING OFFERS', and 'MULTY STOREY REQUIRE'. Additionally, the entire essay is written in uppercase letters, which disregards standard punctuation and capitalization conventions. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause strain for the reader, particularly with complex structures, the performance reflects Band 5.0.
