Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this era of advancement, tall apartments are the unique way to give more houses in urban areas. I am agree with this statement because, over population is a basic issue in our country and we don't have enough space to handle this issue. Thus, this could be a best solution to manage masses house in a small range of area.

Firstly, some people are more interested in living open spaces no matter they are living in urban area or rural areas. These type of folks will fase difficulty to live in apartments because, they are not use to live in small and coverd houses. Besides this, old people can not live in apartments because, they cannot use stairs to go on high floor house. One more thing in apartments there is no privacy because homes are to close and they can hear voices of near by homes.

Secondly, tall apartments can be the best way to establish more homes in small range of space and more people can live. Some people love to live in apartments because they are economical and one family can be easily adjusted in one apartment. Moreover, when people migrate to cities they had less sallery pakages so they can manage to live in apartments. For example, my brother shifted to Lahore he was alone and he can easily live in apartment.

In my opinion, apartments are economicly accessible for every person and overpopulation issue can also be resolved by making these lind of houses. Furthermore, in that nearby area we can develop different facilities for instance, school, park, shoping mall and hospitals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. You present a clear position of agreement in the introduction and reiterate it in the conclusion. Main ideas are introduced, such as managing overpopulation and economic accessibility, and counter-arguments like privacy concerns and the needs of the elderly are briefly considered. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the example regarding your brother moving to Lahore is overly anecdotal and lacks deeper elaboration to fully support the argument. Additionally, the point about nearby facilities in the conclusion introduces new ideas that should have been integrated into the body paragraphs. These shortcomings place the response at a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some overall organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, opposing views, supporting views, and conclusion. However, progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive devices. For example, transition markers like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used, but sentences within paragraphs often feel disjointed rather than logically chained. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'These type of folks will fase difficulty...', where pronoun and noun agreement is faulty. Furthermore, the final paragraph groups economic accessibility and community facilities together abruptly. While paragraphing is attempted, the lack of smooth transitions and occasional mechanical use of cohesive ties limit the coherence to a Band 5.5 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and basic, with frequent vocabulary errors that occasionally impede smooth reading. Examples include 'I am agree', 'fase difficulty', 'coverd houses', 'sallery pakages', 'economicly', and 'lind of houses'. There are also several word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'manage masses house' instead of 'accommodate large populations'. While you attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'overpopulation' and 'accessibility', the high frequency of spelling and word formation errors restricts the score for this criterion to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. Frequent grammatical errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('old people can not live... because, they cannot use'), tense inconsistencies ('he was alone and he can easily live'), and missing articles or prepositions ('live in apartment'). Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with unnecessary comma splices and incorrect placement before conjunctions. While the meaning remains mostly clear despite these errors, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, resulting in a Band 5.0.
