Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era of urbanisation, the demand of accommodation has been increasing everyday. To fulfil the needs of homes, flats and smart homes are the crucial way to provide enough space for living in urban areas. I completely agree with this notion and i will discuss my views in upcoming paragraphs before going to a well suited conclusion.
To begin with flats and smart blocks or apartments are very popular place to live in metro cities which are well known for their opportunities and crowded areas. To elaborate this, although big cities give jobs and better living standards, the public attractions to these places led to the shortage of accommodation. Additionally, the overcrowded colonies do not compete with the facilities provided by the flat management. To resolve this issue, flats provided a better opportunity for those people who wants to migrate in the big cities and keen to have a home according to their taste. It also gives several benefits for people, for instance, the people living in flats can socialise with each others in the time of needs. Also it has a management team who has the responsibility to decide the rules and regulations for better living approach and security for its people.
Further shifted towards to another benefits, flats and apartments are much affordable compared to colonies or other living areas of urban cities. The expenditure for the construction is relatively less, therefore the buyers can easily afford these types of homes in big cities. To exemplify form data, The Times of India posted an article few months ago, which shows that around thirty five percent of total global population rated positively for flats or apartments in the terms of affordability in large or metro cities.
To conclude it, i completely agree with the above notion by considering the evidence and implications. It is clear that this perspective is crucial for building better accomodation in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt directly and takes a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks. The student introduces relevant ideas regarding affordability, urbanisation, and social benefits, supporting them with reasoning. However, some arguments remain somewhat generalised or underdeveloped, such as the claim regarding flat management rules or the specific reference to a newspaper statistic without deeper exploration. This aligns best with Band 6.0, where all parts of the task are addressed, but certain points lack full extension and deep elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, and ideas flow logically from urbanisation to advantages like affordability and management. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or overused, such as transitional phrases like 'To begin with', 'To elaborate this', and 'Further shifted towards to another benefits'. Referencing is occasionally awkward, but overall progression is maintained. This performance sits comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'urbanisation', 'accommodation', 'affordability', and 'metro cities'. There are several word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'demand of accommodation' instead of 'demand for accommodation', 'public attractions' instead of 'public attraction' or 'influx of people', and spelling errors like 'accomodation'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but minor slips occur throughout, making Band 6.0 the most accurate descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'i completely agree with this notion and i will discuss', 'flats provided a better opportunity', 'people wants', 'can socialise with each others', and 'Further shifted towards to another benefits'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization of 'i'. These errors rarely impede overall communication, placing the response at Band 5.5.
