Student answer (Band 5.5)
Large cities are lacking places to live or take shelter. Several people believe construction of tall apartment blocks in cities can be a best approach to meet the demands of people living in a city. I completely agrees with this view beacause of its numerous benifits.
Firstly, it can assist in city's land conservation. By this I mean, apartment occupies less space and can accomodate more peoples or familes in comparison with individual houses, which require more space. So by constructing a building, we can save a lot of land space, and it can fulfill the demand of providing more homes at the same time. Furthermore, it can be budget friendly for most of the peoples that are planning to build their own separate house. For intance, separate costs for every daily use facility like water supply installation, gas availability, whereas, in building it is a one time investestment and several people can get benifit from it.
Secondly, tall apartments can accomodate more migrants and newcommers arriving from distant places to the city. This will encourage more peoples looking for employement to join cities, and cities in return can also take benifit from them and will grow fastly. Newcommers will face no difficulties in finding residence, because buildings can serve the most number of peoples. Moreover, it can also reduce over congestion in commercial areas, where people construct their houses, either nearby a factory, or near a electronic market. Hence, the concept of building separated business and residence which is a positive development.
In conclusion, buildings provides us with more land for useful purposes and can handle large number of migrants looking for better future and employement. I strongly believe, this is a very useful way to give maximum number of houses. In future, the ratio of building tall apartments will increase significantly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on the statement regarding tall apartment blocks. The writer introduces relevant ideas supporting the viewpoint, such as land conservation, budget-friendly infrastructure, and accommodating migrants. However, some arguments lack full extension and suffer from generalisation. For instance, the point regarding utility installation is mentioned briefly as being 'budget friendly' without fully elaborating on economic impacts or comparative urban planning challenges. Furthermore, the phrasing 'several people believe' is rather informal for an academic essay. Despite these minor limitations in idea development, a clear overall position is maintained throughout the text.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body points, and conclusion logically. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'Firstly,' 'Furthermore,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion.' However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the sentence starting with 'whereas, in building it is a one time investestment' uses a transitional conjunction incorrectly, interrupting the flow. Additionally, pronoun reference is occasionally ambiguous, such as 'several people can get benifit from it,' where the antecedent lacks precision. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but internal cohesion requires smoother integration of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'conservation,' 'migrants,' and 'infrastructure,' showing an adequate range for the task. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the overall quality, including 'agrees' instead of 'agree,' 'beacause,' 'benifits,' 'accomodate,' 'peoples,' 'familes,' 'intance,' 'investestment,' 'employement,' 'newcommers,' and 'fastly.' The plural form 'peoples' is used incorrectly where 'people' is required. While these lexical errors are noticeable and stem from basic spelling or morphological confusion, communication of the main ideas is not seriously impeded, which places this performance securely at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at relative clauses and conditional-like reasoning. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent due to persistent errors. Subject-verb agreement issues are present, as seen in 'buildings provides us,' and articles are sometimes omitted or misused, such as 'in city's land conservation.' Punctuation and sentence structures also contain awkward phrasing, as demonstrated in 'whereas, in building it is a one time investestment and several people can get benifit from it.' While complex structures are attempted, they are frequently faulty. Errors occur across many sentences, occasionally causing the reader some difficulty, which aligns with the descriptor for Band 5.0.
