Student answer (Band 5.0)

There are many arguments and views about building tall appartments blocks across the cities to accommodate more persons. Many people thinks that building tall apartments blocks could solve the problem of lack of residentials areas. In contrast, few people argues the disadvantages of building residentials tall apartments projects across the city.

I am more lean towards the idea of building high buildings with more floors could be a potential solution to providing living spaces to residents. Comparitively, high buildings takes less space as opposed to having seperate houses for residents. Not only it takes less space but also accommodate more people in contrast to seperate homes for people.

The appartment culture is increasing all around the globe because of several reasons. There are a large amount of people who feels more secure in appartments as these modern appartments offers a wide range of amenities. This includes gyms, swiming pools, built in park, advance security systems etc. The appartment culture also offers a social friendly environment where people can socialise and enjoy freedom without any fear. I have spent my whole life living in appartments I feel more secure when I am inside the appartment boundries. Moreover, I can easily access number of amenities without travelling somewhere else.

Large cities are often picked up people because there are more job opportunites than a small scaled city. There are more job opportunities which is the primary motive of people to migrate in these cities. Also, these large cities tends to have more tourists attractions because of the cultural diversity.

In general, I believe to accommodate people in the best way possible is by building a high storey appartments that could be a home to many people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main prompt by taking a clear stance in favour of building tall apartment blocks, as stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the points regarding space-saving and security are mentioned multiple times across different paragraphs without significant extension or deep exploration. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be more fully elaborated with more robust supporting arguments and detailed examples that explain the broader socio-economic or environmental impacts of vertical urban development, rather than relying heavily on personal preference and surface-level points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization evident through paragraphing and simple linking words such as 'In contrast', 'Moreover', and 'Also'. However, the overall progression of ideas lacks clarity. Sentences and paragraphs often feel disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, as seen with phrases like 'There are' appearing frequently to introduce new concepts. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, making the flow between ideas stutter. To improve, the writer needs to employ a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one to maintain a smoother overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, but the range is limited and repetitive. Words such as 'apartments', 'buildings', and 'people' are recycled frequently throughout the text. Additionally, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'appartments', 'residentials', 'Comparitively', 'seperate', and 'swiming', which reveal a lack of control over more complex or less common lexical items. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, incorporate more precise academic terminology regarding urban planning, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes that detract from the overall quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic complex forms. Attempts at more complex structures often contain errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Many people thinks', 'high buildings takes', 'cities tends') and awkward phrasing like 'I am more lean towards the idea'. Frequent grammatical errors are present, which occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer should focus on mastering basic grammatical rules, such as agreement and verb forms, while gradually incorporating a wider variety of accurate, error-free complex sentence structures to enhance the overall sophistication of the grammar.
