Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is an irrefutable fact, the most effective approach to increase the supply of housing in urban areas is to build tower blocks. While, I agree with this statement to some extent I believe it is not entirely convincing.
To commense with, there are compelling arguments supporting this opinion. One of the substantial inflience is they accommodate more people on limited land. To explain it, multistorey buildings are usually require limited amount of area for constructing a residential appartments and it is beneficial for large population to live there. Secondly, it make transportation facilities effective. To expound it, many skycrapper are situated near the facilities like shopping centres, bus stands and hospitals so it save individuals time for travelling and travel cost. Thirdly, it reduces urban sprawl. For example, for making a low-storey buildings there is use of lot og agricultural land which reduces the production of farm goods and also there is a cause of uncontrolled population which is only overcome by build vertical housng.
On the other hand, this argument is not entirely convincing. Firstly, it can cause overcrowding and pressure on infrastructure. To narrare it, as several residential towers are loacted nearby facilities so that places become overcroeded due to large installment of high-rise appartment blocks and spread traffic jams. Furthermore, it can be expensive and environmental damage. To elaborate it, numerous tower blocks are very costly which is not affordable for every inhabitants and there is lot of noise pollution. Last but not the least, it impacts quality of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of building tall apartment blocks, presenting a clear position that agrees to some extent. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the points regarding urban sprawl and infrastructure pressure are introduced but lack fully elaborated examples or thorough explanation. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend each main point with deeper analysis and more specific supporting evidence rather than relying on generalized statements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a discernible overall structure with distinct paragraphs, and the writer attempts to sequence ideas using transitional markers such as 'To commense with' and 'On the other hand'. Nevertheless, the progression is sometimes disjointed due to mechanical and repetitive use of formulaic phrases like 'To explain it' and 'To elaborate it'. Referencing and logical flow occasionally falter, making the transition between ideas feel abrupt. To improve, the writer should employ a wider variety of natural cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs without relying on rigid formulas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common items such as 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure', and 'overcrowding'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'inflience' instead of 'influence', 'apparaments' and 'appartment', 'skycrapper', 'narrare', and 'inhabitants' where 'inhabitant' should be singular or 'residents' plural. These inaccuracies occasionally cause strain for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their range of vocabulary, improve precision in word choice, and eliminate spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, containing frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of grammatical errors include subject-verb agreement issues like 'multistorey buildings are usually require', incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing such as 'which is only overcome by build vertical housng'. Punctuation and preposition use within grammatical patterns also show persistent flaws. To progress, the writer must work on building a greater variety of error-free complex structures and improving overall grammatical accuracy.
