Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's era building home is everyone's dream. some people says that the best way to provide enough home in urban areas is to build tall appartment blocks while, other believe it is not. I agree to a larger extent that it is a best way to provide homes.
To begin with, as population is growing rapidly and infrastructure of urban cities is increasing. The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks because it is the more effective. As in less space more people can live a good lifestyle. Moreover, it also offers amienties in tall buildings such as parks for childrens, gyms, swimming pools, sports clubs and many more. This attracts majority of people to live in apartments. Hence in less space more people can live and have amienties experience.
Furthermore, if a businessmen have invested money in building tall apartment than it would create a great profit and enhance economically growth. The best part about tall building blocks is security. Many apartments offer great security and protect people from any robbery. Therefore, it a huge advantage to live in a tall appartments.
On the other hand, many people believe it is not the best way to live in a tall buildings because there might be disagreement of many people about various topics and it might create a conflict. In addition, sometime many people might feel crowded as population in appartment would be more.
In conclusion, many people might think that it is not good way to live in apartments because many disagreements take place and over crowding appears. However, I believe to a larger extent that best way to provide enough home in urban cities is to build tall building because offers more amnieties and in less space people can live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in agreement with building tall apartment blocks to solve housing shortages in large cities. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the points regarding amenities such as parks and gyms, and the economic benefits for businessmen, are introduced but not extended with sufficient explanation or concrete examples. Similarly, the counterargument acknowledging potential conflicts and overcrowding lacks depth. To move to a higher level, the ideas need to be more fully elaborated and supported with detailed explanations or real-world examples that substantiate the claims made throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic logical organisation to the response, with an introduction, body paragraphs supporting the main position, a counterargument paragraph, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression across the text, as ideas tend to jump between different points without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes repetitive or used mechanically, such as the frequent reliance on 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Hence'. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs mix multiple distinct ideas rather than focusing on a single, well-defined theme. Improving the overall flow and using a wider, more natural variety of cohesive links would enhance the structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'infrastructure', 'amenities', and 'disagreement', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling. For example, 'appartment', 'amienties', 'childrens', and 'economically growth' demonstrate persistent spelling and word-form inaccuracies. Additionally, phrasing is at times repetitive, relying on words like 'home', 'people', and 'building' throughout the response. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate more precise word choice and collocation, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, with attempts at complex sentences often proving faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including issues with article use ('building home', 'the best way', 'a huge advantage'), subject-verb agreement ('if a businessmen have invested'), and plurals ('many people might feel crowded as population in appartment would be more'). Simple sentence forms are generally manageable, but complex constructions often contain structural slips. To improve, the writer should focus on increasing sentence variety while ensuring greater accuracy in basic grammatical patterns, plurals, and articles.
