Student answer (Band 5.0)

In my prospective, I am agree with some point of view but also i disagree with it. I am agree in this way because its cheap for students and job holding persons that comes from another cities and temporary living in big cities. Because its cheap and comes in a budget of everyone. Mostly in tall buildings investors or property ownes build small apartments they mostly consist of 1 to 3 rooms with kitchen and bath, and small balcony. Thats why i am favour in building tall apartment blocks.

While i considered some draw backs of it, the property owners cannot take proper care of building like they cannot maintain it. Some buildings remain leaking during a rain, blockage drainage system and not cleaness. Thats why buildings fell down and loss of people life. The owner of the building only focus on money not focus on people life. Goverment should make strict policies and rules & regulations, also make a team that visit after a month or couple a week to check builings. If a building in a damage condition they should ban them and block their apartments until the owner could not propert fit it.

In my real eye sight example i see its a large building have contain almost 20 apartment, they fell down because the people could not know how many load the building handle. The incident occurs when new family shiftng their goods in apartment the room of beneath block is crack and with in a few minutes a full building demolished almost 38 people lost their life and 20 gets high injured and in a serious condition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by taking a partially agreed stance on whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. The ideas presented are somewhat limited and under-developed, which keeps the response at this band level. For instance, the writer mentions that tall buildings offer cheap, budget-friendly options with small apartments for students and workers, but this point lacks sufficient extension or specific examples. Similarly, the counterargument concerning maintenance issues and safety is introduced but remains underdeveloped. While the writer attempts to support the position with a real-life example of a building collapse, the explanation is disjointed and lacks clear integration to fully answer the prompt. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to explore both sides of the argument more thoroughly, offering well-developed explanations and specific real-world examples to substantiate the claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic level of organization in the response, with an introduction and distinct body paragraphs addressing different viewpoints. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are used rather inadequately and repetitively, with excessive reliance on phrases like 'that's why' to link sentences and ideas. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the exact progression of the argument. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks smooth transitions between sentences. To improve in this area, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one with clear signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource displayed is limited, though minimally adequate to communicate the basic message. The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice errors and incorrect word forms such as 'prospective' instead of perspective, 'job holding persons', 'ownes' instead of owners, and 'cleaness'. Additionally, there are spelling and collocation issues that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'high injured' instead of severely injured and 'shiftng'. The writer attempts to use some less common vocabulary related to housing and safety, but these attempts are marred by noticeable inaccuracies. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, pay closer attention to correct word forms and collocations, and minimize spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structures, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the property owners cannot take proper care... like they cannot maintain it', 'a large building have contain'), incorrect prepositions, and missing articles. Many sentences contain structural flaws that cause difficulty for the reader, for example, 'In my real eye sight example i see its a large building have contain almost 20 apartment, they fell down because the people could not know how many load the building handle.' To progress to higher bands, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures, improve accuracy in verb tenses and agreement, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
