Student answer (Band 5.0)

internationally people are trying to move in the urban areas in order to get a good and standarized sort of life .in my opinion in order to control the excess of poulation we should build a tall buildings with a large number of appartments.why i said this their is a critical thinking of mine behid this basically we have seen in the previous few years that many people are eagerly moving toward cities without thinking twice that this initiative will turn into a huge crowd accumlation in the urban areas what captivates them is the lightening life and a lot of luxiries present there in the cities but their is also a disadvantage that if many indvidual will move there then their will be occured a rise in pollution as well this is ajust a enviornmental issue but contrary to this their is another problem we are going to face is shortage of appartments as the number of consumer will increase then ultimately consumption rate by them will also enhance so we need to design such infrastucture that occupy less space but still provide a roof to people and this is achieved by constructing a building or a palaza with a several number of houses so that we can accomodate easily the population in them without facing shortage of homes also without tackling with the issue of inflation where the appartment prices will touch the sky as we build tall buildings we will cover less land so it will we budget freindly as well for the people who wants to live here in cities rather then residing in the rural area yeah every one has their own reasons why they want to be lived in the cities

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by presenting a clear position that tall apartment blocks are the best solution to urban housing shortages. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For example, while you mention that building tall structures covers less land and is budget-friendly, this point is not fully extended with specific examples or deep analysis. The discussion tends to generalise about urban migration without exploring alternative solutions or providing robust support. To reach a higher level, you need to fully develop your arguments with well-supported explanations and specific real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, as it is written as a single, continuous block of text without any division into introductions, body paragraphs, or conclusions. This makes it difficult to follow a clear overall progression. Furthermore, cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, leading to a mechanical and run-on flow of ideas. For instance, sentences are strung together using lowercase letters and basic conjunctions like 'and' or 'so' without appropriate punctuation. To improve, you must organise your response into distinct paragraphs and use a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader through your arguments smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'standarized', 'poulation', 'appartments', 'accumlation', 'luxiries', and 'enviornmental'. While you attempt some less common vocabulary such as 'infrastructure' and 'accommodate', these are offset by frequent spelling slips and inappropriate collocations like 'lightening life'. To achieve a higher score, you should work on expanding your vocabulary range, ensuring correct spelling, and using words with greater precision and stylistic appropriateness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of lengthy, run-on simple sentences linked incorrectly by coordinating conjunctions. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences, incorrect article usage, and a lack of proper terminal punctuation. Attempts at complex sentences often result in faulty structures and unclear clauses, such as 'why i said this their is a critical thinking of mine behid this'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on separating your ideas into distinct sentences, mastering basic punctuation, and accurately constructing complex grammatical forms.
