Student answer (Band 5.0)
The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks I do agree with statement because many people come from different states or country to this city to explore more things most of the humans come to cities to find jobs and to have something on their own…tall buildings is good but it also should be in some extend but also this will people to get easy apartments and easier to travel too, it would be more convenient for the people if they get good apartments near their offices etc. More families would come due to come accessiblilty. High-rise buildings can also be built near business areas, schools, hospitals and public transport, making daily travel easier and more convenient for residents.
A good advantage is that people can save both time and money on transportation if they live close to their workplaces. Good access to public transport can also encourage people to use buses and trains instead of private vehicles, which may help reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
Cities without proper planning would not be convenient as it would be congested, so with proper planning we can build open spaces parks ,parking areas and many more things whichever is convenient for the people.
But also if too many buildings in one area without proper planning it will or can lead to overcrowding.
Also we build tall buildings it should be safe , affordable and maintained. This would allow more people to find suitable homes while also making cities more comfortable and convenient to live in.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position of agreement regarding tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the point that 'most of the humans come to cities to find jobs' is stated rather than thoroughly explored, and the writing tends to drift into repetitive statements about convenience and public transport, such as 'making daily travel easier and more convenient for residents'. While relevant points like reducing traffic congestion and incorporating open spaces are touched upon, they lack sufficient extension and support. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with specific examples and clearer extension for each main argument presented.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation in the text, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The essay suffers from a run-on opening sentence ('The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks I do agree with statement...') that sets a confusing tone. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions between ideas are frequently abrupt or repetitive, as seen with multiple consecutive sentences starting with 'Also' or 'But also'. Cohesive devices are used inadequately and sometimes inaccurately, leading to mechanical connections between sentences. To improve, the writer should ensure distinct paragraph boundaries for introduction, body points, and conclusion, while employing a wider range of logical connectors to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'congestion', 'accessible', and 'convenient', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word form and collocation, such as 'come accessiblilty' and 'in some extend'. Repetition of basic words like 'buildings', 'people', and 'cities' is frequent throughout the response. Spelling and word choice errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, particularly when attempting more complex phrases. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire and use less common vocabulary with greater precision, ensuring correct word forms and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and run-on structures lacking proper punctuation. There are frequent errors in grammar, including missing punctuation, incorrect prepositional phrases, and faulty complex sentence attempts, such as 'if too many buildings in one area without proper planning it will or can lead to overcrowding.' Subject-verb agreement and article usage also show frequent inaccuracies throughout the text. These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentence structures and pay closer attention to punctuation, verb forms, and basic sentence boundaries.
