Student answer (Band 5.5)

The grate way to provide enough recidencies in metropolitan cities is to construct tall apartmnet buildings.I partially agree with this statement because, Everyone cannot afford the cost of an aparment. Likewise, there are also people who wants to be live in aparments with aminities and can afford.

To commence with, In large cities like mumbai most of the people fall under middleclass and lower middleclass whoes ability to afford an apartment is not possible because of financuial conditions they have. For them building a common society can provide homes to affors ratherthan a tall apartment moreover unlike rich people these people has large families with so much gatherings occutionally throughout the yaer. So tecnically apartments are unfit for them.

On the flip side, there are also some people who may have a good amount of income and who wants to live in a gated community which offers calm recidential vibe. For them it is feasible to have an apartment in metrocities. As the apartments also comesup with a grate fecilities like departmental stores, swimmingpools, a play area etc, they love to move into such societies with good aminities.

To conclude with, the best way to provide enough homes in big cities is not only constructing tall apartments but also they should build common societies without overlooking the avarage financial conditions of the people living there in the cities. Hence, a balance approch works better to provide enough homes to everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt partially by presenting a position that partially agrees with the statement, discussing both the drawbacks for large or lower-middle-class families and the benefits for individuals seeking amenities. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed, lacking thorough explanation or robust examples. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response falls short of the minimum two hundred and fifty words, containing only two hundred and forty words. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend and support all main arguments with detailed reasoning and ensure the word count requirement is satisfied.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays some overall organization with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, placing it at a level where the overall arrangement is coherent. Paragraphing is utilized, and basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the flip side', and 'To conclude with' are present to guide the reader through the text. Nevertheless, referencing is not always clear, and the logical progression between sentences can feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the repetitive phrasing regarding providing homes in big cities. To improve further, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer employs a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for addressing the topic. Attempts are made to use less common items, such as 'metropolitan cities', 'amenities', and 'gated community', but these are hindered by noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'grate', 'recidencies', 'apartmnet', 'affors', 'financuial', 'recidential', and 'fecilities'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical control. To achieve a higher band, the student must expand their vocabulary range, improve spelling accuracy, and demonstrate a better command of word choice and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic patterns alongside attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are recurrent grammatical errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'Everyone cannot afford', 'people has large families', 'the apartments also comesup', and missing commas or incorrect capitalisation like starting sentences immediately after periods without proper spacing. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to produce a greater variety of complex sentence structures with improved control and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical mistakes.
