Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many parts of the world, it is often argued that the best way to provide enough shelters in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. Although many people do not agree with this statement but I strongly agree. In my perspective, it is necessary to build enough homes for everyone as it is a basic need.
Firstly, tall buildings can change the whole infrastructure of the city and it can open new ways of devolopment. Moreover, it will lead to a making of a new and civilised society where many people live together. It will help people to communicate easily and it will provide oppurtunities like socializing. Furthermore, tall buildings will leave some space for parks and lawns in front of the building.
Meanwhile, tall apartment blocks can also resolve the issues of traffic as many parents felt hesitant in sending their children to nearby parks but through this advancement, this issue will be resolved without taking any impressive measures. Many families prefer living together for a while so if they get apartments nearby than they will not feel distant. For instance, a survey conducted in China reported that nearly eighty five percent people prefered living in an apartment building because of the oppurtunities they get there are nowhere else to be found.
Apart from living together, apartment buildings facilitates with better medical care and instant recovery can be made. All of the essentials that are required to carry a living can be build in a little radius with the help of this project.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear, strongly agreed position regarding the construction of tall apartment blocks in large cities. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the essay. While the writer attempts to present reasons such as infrastructure development, social interaction, traffic management, and proximity to medical care, these points are stated rather than fully explained or supported. For instance, the claim that tall buildings leave space for parks is introduced but not elaborated upon with concrete examples or logical extension. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to expand on each main idea with well-reasoned arguments and fully relevant supporting details rather than relying on brief, generalized assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding sentiment, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas from start to finish. Basic cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Meanwhile', but their usage is sometimes repetitive or mechanical. For example, transitioning between paragraphs feels abrupt, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'through this advancement, this issue will be resolved' where the exact antecedent is vague. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion lacks seamless links between sentences. To improve, the writer should ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one and utilize a wider variety of cohesive markers more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are several spelling mistakes, such as 'devolopment' instead of 'development' and 'oppurtunities' instead of 'opportunities', along with awkward word choices like 'shelters' when referring to permanent homes and 'facilitates' instead of 'facilities' or 'are facilitated'. Attempts at less common lexical items are constrained and marred by inaccuracies in word form and collocation, such as 'carry a living' instead of 'make a living'. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to correct word forms and spelling, and employ more precise, topic-specific terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside occasional attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. For example, the sentence 'Although many people do not agree with this statement but I strongly agree' contains a redundant conjunction error. There are also issues with preposition usage and clause structures, such as 'if they get apartments nearby than they will not feel distant'. Frequent grammatical errors, including tense inconsistencies and minor agreement issues, are present throughout the text, though they rarely obscure the overall meaning entirely. To progress, the writer should incorporate a greater variety of error-free complex sentence structures and improve control over basic grammatical patterns.
