Student answer (Band 5.0)
The better form of providing enough houses in huge cities is to make large apartment blocks. while some believe that tall residential buildings
covered less land of urban areas , To some point it's right but I acknowledged to save valuable land . everything has pros and cons.
One of the main reason , huge buildings are better for the populated cities because they could not cover a lot of space as compare to houses. By conserving space, we get more land for fertilization of agricultural purposes . it's the basic need of humans. In addition , our country is also making money from exporting of food . for example , housing societies are made now a days . they build big houses and left no space for growing food. it is an alarming situation for us as individuals.
Other reason is that, separate residences contribute for high level of air and noise pollution . it is an obvious one but they effect our economic condition too . we need infrastructure for them like roads ,hospitals and schools . our government could not afford separate residences for every individual .it has big impact on our technology for example, we need offices for work ...... the security of information from hackers or for freelancing or for ware houses . In modern world every thing is available online .
Conclusion, huge buildings has a big impact on our society. whether, it's economically or for food processing or from the technological aspect. I strongly agree with this idea of making tall buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position where the writer agrees that tall apartment blocks are the best solution, though this stance is not always clearly sustained throughout. Ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions agricultural benefits and pollution reduction, but these points lack sufficient explanation and are supported by general assertions rather than concrete, well-developed examples. The discussion jumps between various loosely related points, such as housing societies, pollution, infrastructure costs, and technology, without fully exploring any single argument. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to select two or three central ideas, state a clear position in the introduction, and extend each argument with detailed explanations and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation, with the essay broken into distinct paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The transition between sentences and paragraphs can be abrupt, and cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused. For example, expressions like 'Other reason is that' and 'Conclusion, huge buildings has a big impact' are mechanically used and unidiomatic. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the sudden shift to discussing technology and warehouses in the third body paragraph. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical links between sentences need significant strengthening. To achieve a higher score, the writer must ensure that ideas follow a logical sequence, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices naturally, and maintain a clear thematic progression throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There is an attempt to use less common items, such as 'fertilization' and 'infrastructure', but these are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and form, such as 'covered less land of urban areas' instead of 'covered less land in urban areas'. Spelling and word-form errors are also present, including 'ware houses' and 'effect' instead of 'affect'. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader in grasping the precise meaning. To improve this criterion, the writer should focus on expanding their range of vocabulary, learning correct collocations for academic contexts, and ensuring accuracy in word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often faulty, featuring issues with punctuation, articles, verb forms, and subject-verb agreement. Examples of grammatical lapses include 'The better form of providing', 'One of the main reason , huge buildings are better', and 'huge buildings has a big impact'. Punctuation is also problematic, with erratic spacing around commas and periods throughout the text. To progress to a higher band, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence structures while improving grammatical accuracy, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, proper article usage, and reliable punctuation.
