Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is aften argued that development of big buidings can cover the need of enough homes for residents in crowded cities while some people believe that this idea results in bad envornmental effect and cause pollution. I strongly agreed with this view because less space need for mutiple apaertments, enjoy privilage of social events and gathering.

One major reason why i suppport this view is that, there are less need of broad areas for developments of mutiple house, and parks. marketing strategies on the other hand used tall building for office establishment. For instance a famous brand Khaadi transform the big building usage for products such as clothes, home appliances, and jewellary. therefore individuals don't need to go for separate shops to buy these items and buy under one roof. As a result, save time for other activities.

Another main reason in that in big and crowded place, they socalize more and participate in multiple activies. social events organize by committe in such areas so people know each other rather than to isolate themselves. For example, neighbour occasionally celebrates birthday and religious events together. Moreover, invite others to celebrate their happiness together.Every year a social culture mela was organize by domestic commitee. people of multiple religious come and enjoy different culture together despite of their background. Therefore, they feel less isolate and enjoy good company.

however, in big cities traffic jams and pollution are big issue. noise pollution feel exhausted and leads to stress.

In conclusion, i strongly believe that more social events is a benefical way to know eachother and less area covered by these developments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position that is visible but not fully articulated throughout the essay. The writer attempts to express agreement with the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks, supporting this with ideas related to space efficiency, social gatherings, and commercial convenience. However, these ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the transition in the second body paragraph to marketing strategies and commercial brands such as Khaadi is tangential and distracts from the core argument about residential housing. Similarly, the points regarding community events are introduced without sufficient elaboration to fully support the main thesis. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to ensure that every supporting point directly answers the prompt and is thoroughly explained with relevant, well-developed examples rather than shifting focus to unrelated commercial topics.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation in the response, featuring clear paragraph breaks that attempt to separate different arguments. However, the essay lacks a clear overall progression from beginning to end. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, such as the abrupt transitions between paragraphs and repetitive linking expressions. Pronoun referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical connections between sentences, particularly in the discussion about community events and commercial spaces. The conclusion is overly brief and does not effectively summarise the main arguments presented in the body. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure that ideas follow a logical sequence, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to link thoughts smoothly, and employ clearer referencing throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas related to city living and housing. There are noticeable lexical errors throughout the text, including spelling mistakes such as "aften", "buidings", "envornmental", "apaertments", "mutiple", and "socalize", as well as word-choice errors like "socal culture mela". These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication. The range of vocabulary is restricted to simple and repetitive terms, with few attempts at less common lexical items used accurately. To improve in this criterion, the writer needs to expand their working vocabulary, pay closer attention to word forms and collocations, and thoroughly check their spelling before completing the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, prepositions, and verb tenses, such as "less space need", "there are less need", and "social culture mela was organize". These frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and disrupt the flow of reading. Punctuation is also inconsistently handled. To reach a higher standard, the writer must work on building a wider variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining grammatical control, ensuring correct verb forms, agreements, and accurate punctuation to minimise errors.
