Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, provide enough homes to people in large cities. This is a very important issue in our society, Some people think that this is a good idea while oher do not suppoet it. I completely agree with this statement and i will axplain my reasons below.

The first reason why i support this idea is that in large cities people struggle to find home if builders build the tall apartment block then people find the home very easy. For example, In pakistan many people have seen positive changes because of this in their daily lives. This clearly shows that it is very useful and beneficial fo people in society. Therefore, most people now accept and support this idea.

Another reason is that if someone build a single story apartment in this apartment only one family live but in this plot build a tall apartment then many people can live in this apartment. For instance, students and working people have also benefited from this in many ways. This proves that it has a very positive effect on the lives of ordinary people. As a result, more and more people are now in favour of this idea every day.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that this is a positive devolpment in for our society. The two reasons are that it is helpful for individuals and it also benefits the community as a whole. I hope that people will take advantage of this opportunity and use it in a positve way for a better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position agreeing with the statement, which is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is limited and under-developed. For instance, the first body paragraph mentions that in Pakistan people have seen positive changes, but this example remains vague and lacks specific explanation of how tall buildings solved housing issues. Similarly, the second paragraph contrasts single-story buildings with tall apartments simply by stating that more people can live in the latter, without exploring broader urban planning concepts such as land efficiency or infrastructure. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to extend and support ideas with more specific details and fully elaborated examples rather than relying on generalised assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some organisation through basic paragraphing and a clear introduction and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression across the text, and the flow between sentences can feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical and repetitive manner, such as starting consecutive sentences with 'The first reason' and 'Another reason', or overusing connectors like 'for example', 'this clearly shows', and 'as a result'. In addition, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase 'in this plot build a tall apartment then many people can live in this apartment'. To achieve a higher band, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure a smoother, more logical progression of ideas from one paragraph to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'beneficial', 'community', and 'opportunity', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'suppoet' instead of 'support', 'axplain' instead of 'explain', 'devolpment' instead of 'development', and awkward phrasing like 'people struggle to find home'. Furthermore, repetition of basic words such as 'home', 'people', and 'apartment' restricts the range. To progress to a higher band, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, use less common lexical items with greater precision and stylistic awareness, and eliminate spelling and word-formation errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic coordination. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to run-on structures and punctuation errors, such as in the opening sentence fragment 'Nowadays, provide enough homes to people in large cities' and the comma splice in 'Some people think that this is a good idea while oher do not suppoet it'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and agreement, such as 'if builders build the tall apartment block then people find the home very easy' and 'if someone build a single story apartment'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To move to a higher band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms with good control and significantly reduce grammatical and punctuation errors.
