Student answer (Band 5.5)
With the increasing population of world, the problems such as accomadation, food, clothes and many others are also increasing.Talking about accomodation,as the population of world is increasing the area reserved for living is constantly decreasing making accomadation a major concern especially in larger cities where the space is already not enough.
I think the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. The main reason for this is that it will save a lot of space and as well provide majority of homes to mny people. Suppose an apartment is build with 15 blocks, each block is reserved for one family. This is going to provide homes to 15 families saving a lot of space. On contrary,if separate houses are to be made then in order to provide homes to 15 houses to 15 families,15 separate houses are to be made that is going to cost a lot of space.
Apart from space, another advantage of apartment blocks is the attachment and care for the neighnours.People living in apartments are more closer to each other than people living in separate houses. And also the one living in aparment can rush to help when needed more quickly.Another reason can be material cost and use of resources such as water and electricity.Making tall apartment blocks than separate houses prove to be cost effective and will result in saving resources that is going to be used during construction.
In conclusion apartment blocks provide enough homes in large cities than separate houses because of taking less space, giving sense of closure to people living there and also help conserve resources

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially by presenting a clear position agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. However, the development of ideas is limited and under-developed. For instance, the main body attempts to explain space-saving benefits through a numerical example of fifteen blocks, but this reasoning remains somewhat simplistic and lacks broader elaboration on urban planning or infrastructure. While the response contains relevant ideas, such as resource conservation and community proximity, these points are presented rather briefly without being fully extended or supported with comprehensive examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
There is a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion framing the discussion. The writer attempts to logically sequence ideas, moving from space considerations to community and resource factors in the body paragraphs. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear, particularly with transitional phrases. For example, the phrase 'On contrary' lacks the correct article, and cohesive devices overall are at times repetitive or slightly inadequate in smoothly guiding the reader through the argumentation. Paragraphing is utilized, but the internal logical flow between sentences could be strengthened to establish a clearer overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for discussing urban housing. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'accomadation', 'mny', 'neighnours', and 'aparment'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, like 'cost effective' and 'conserve resources', but these attempts are accompanied by frequent spelling mistakes and minor collocation lapses. The range of vocabulary restricts the precision of the argument, keeping the lexical expression basic and repetitive in places.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the population of world', 'the one living in aparment'), comma splices, and run-on phrasing ('Suppose an apartment is build with 15 blocks, each block is reserved for one family'). Prepositional usage and subject-verb agreement also show consistent lapses, such as 'is to be made' where plural forms are required. These frequent grammatical inaccuracies demand extra effort from the reader to parse the meaning.
