Student answer (Band 5.5)
In several ways building apartments in large cities are the best way to acomodate large amount of people at small land for example in large cities like london tokyo delhi karachi large amounts of apartments are build to provide enough homes
In large cities a 20 floor building allows 80 to 90 families to live in it while if we use this space for personal housing only 4 to 5 families can live there for that reason large apartments are build to provide enough home to people in lesser amount for that goverment provide basic facilities like gas water electricity and public transport to people living in apartments. apartments are build near supermarkets ,hospitals, school, colleges, and resturants so people living in it can avail any things they want. parks and playground are present in front of apartment
the price of land in large cities large expensive so middle class or normal people who came thre for search of job, study purposes cannot afford that but apartments are budget fiendly and also provide basic facilites to its people and provide enough space in low budget apartments also keeps us in commuities but some people complaint about lack of facilities like isolation no park no balconies, noise ,so they donot like apartments but if apartments are completley desgined and all basic facilities like balconies public park playgrounds are build in it then it is very easiest way to own a personal home in large cities like tokyo delhi karachi and london in low budget
i am completly agreed with this statement because apartments are the only way to own a personal space in large cities with ib low budget apartment are the best option to live in large cities we need to change the trend of owing home and move towards apartments to mange the lack of land and provide enough homes

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position on the issue of building tall apartment blocks in large cities. The writer's stance is evident from the beginning, stating that apartments are the best way to accommodate large populations on limited land. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the efficient use of space, proximity to amenities, and affordability for the middle class. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack extension. For instance, the mention of government facilities and the counterarguments regarding noise and lack of balconies are introduced briefly without deep exploration. To reach a higher band, the response would need to extend these supporting points with more detailed explanations and fully developed examples, rather than moving quickly from one point to the next.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a coherent overall arrangement to the essay, and the writer attempts to group ideas into logical stages, moving from the benefits of space-saving to amenities, counterarguments, and a final conclusion. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, and the lack of standard punctuation—such as missing periods and capital letters throughout the text—makes the progression less clear than it should be. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences run into one another without proper boundaries, creating a dense block of text in the middle. To improve coherence, the writer needs to use more accurate and varied cohesive devices to link ideas, while strictly applying standard sentence-level punctuation and paragraph breaks to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts related to city living, housing, and urban facilities. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary items, such as 'budget friendly', 'commuities', and 'completley desgined', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word-form errors like 'acomodate', 'amount' instead of 'amounts', and 'resturants'. Word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as 'at small land' instead of 'on limited land'. While these errors do not severely impede communication because the overall meaning remains clear, they restrict the score to this level. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand the lexical repertoire, use less common phrasing with greater precision, and eliminate spelling inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences and attempts at complex forms that often lack proper grammatical scaffolding. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'building apartments... are' and 'apartments are build', alongside missing articles and incorrect prepositions. Punctuation is virtually absent, with the entire response lacking standard full stops and capitalisation at sentence boundaries, which heavily impacts structural control. While the meaning is generally retrievable, the accumulation of errors requires the reader to decode the sentences. To progress, the writer needs to master basic sentence construction, ensure correct verb forms and subject-verb agreement, and apply accurate punctuation to create clear, grammatically sound sentences.
