Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that best way to solve the shortage of housing in cities is to build tall buildingsor appartments .I strongly agree with that because more people live in a limited area, althought other housing solution are also necessary.
There are several reason reason of building tall appartments can be effective.Tall buildings occopy less area and give more opportunities for good life style because in cities the avalible area is very conjusted so for that reason it necessary to build large buildings and live large numbers of people in less area,For example in citys appartments are build near the bus station, schools and hospital which results in commuting time and make urban life more convenient.
However i dont really thing that tall buildings are the only or always best soloution. It can also cause different problems like overcrowded, noise, and lack of private outdoor space. In addition, if governmet only focous is only to counstrust large appartments than they dont have enough funds to make parks, play grounds, sports center ,and other developings projects. But if government do that projects in the suburbs arae of cities and provide a good transport system than as a result it will help more to lower pressure on cities environment and traffic in city center.
In conclusion, I agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective way to provide housing in densely populated cities because they use land efficiently.nevertheless, they should be combined with other forms of housing development and suffient public facilities to create comfortable and sustainable cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear overall position that tall apartment blocks are the best solution for urban housing shortages while acknowledging necessary qualifications. For instance, the writer states 'I strongly agree with that because more people live in a limited area'. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly when discussing land efficiency and proximity to amenities such as 'bus station, schools and hospital'. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed, such as the counter-argument regarding infrastructure and suburban development, which points towards the higher band as it shows extension and support, while maintaining the balanced characteristics of the current band level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from introduction to conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, such as the benefits of high-rise living and the opposing perspective on infrastructure. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas together, as seen with transition words like 'However' and 'In conclusion'. Nevertheless, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty, and referencing is not always completely clear, such as the ambiguous pronoun reference in 'if government do that projects'. These features reflect a logical structure with some lapses, which places the organization securely at this level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'densely populated', 'efficiently', and 'sustainable'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'appartments', 'occopy', 'conjusted', 'soloution', 'focous', 'counstrust', and 'suffient'. While these errors are frequent, they do not impede overall communication, as the meaning remains clear to the reader. To move further up, the vocabulary range needs greater precision, fewer spelling slips, and a higher level of collocation control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination with structures like 'although other housing solution are also necessary' and 'if government only focous is only to counstrust'. There are several errors in grammar, punctuation, and word forms, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('other housing solution', 'government only focous'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('results in commuting time'). However, these errors rarely impede communication and the basic meaning is successfully conveyed. The variety of structures combined with these persistent control issues characterizes this level of grammatical performance.
