Student answer (Band 5.0)

To accomodate people in any large cities is to build a tall apartmet blocks or enough homes, we saw a major opinion on this issues which one suit best in the interest of peole.

As per my opinion th cities which build tall high rise apartment are more suitable for the people and for he government as well.

There are multiple postive aspect associated with my opinion as the people would easily afford the price of apartment rather then house. The cost of contruction for individual buyer is very less as compared to those who construct homes.

The major issue we saw from government in collection of tax on property from the owners as the tax on house is way more as compared to apartment and the people would easily afford to pay their apartment taxes to government on time.

We can easily accomodate many families in high rise building as it take less space the house where in house we only accomodate one to two families. The number of parkings is designated in apartment for each owner or renter.

The cities government of beijing ,mumbai and newyork are more interested in contruction of high rise apartment then houses.

We saw a major change in mumbai slums area project where a local construction company accuired land from slum owners and make agrement to provide them a apartment for their families. This intiative make the standard of slum people life as better then the middle class . Where we saw a massive decrese in pollution of mumbai city.

On these point of my argument i think people and government should more focus on construction of high rise building then house.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the points regarding property tax collection and housing affordability are introduced simply without sufficient elaboration or concrete justification. The example regarding Mumbai's slum redevelopment project is relevant and attempts to support the argument, but the reasoning is somewhat tangled, stating that the initiative made living standards 'better then the middle class' and led to a decrease in pollution. While the task is partially addressed, the overall lack of fully extended and supported arguments keeps the response at this level. To move higher, the writer needs to explore each main point in greater depth, explaining the 'how' and 'why' behind assertions such as construction costs and governmental tax benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation present in the essay, with an introduction, several body paragraphs, and a concluding sentence, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The transition between sentences and paragraphs often feels abrupt. For example, moving directly from the discussion of government taxes to the spatial benefits of high-rise buildings lacks a smooth logical bridge. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, repetitive, or mechanically used, such as the repetitive phrasing 'As per my opinion' and 'We saw'. Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries do not always align logically with distinct themes, as single ideas are often fragmented. To improve cohesion, the writer should use a wider variety of appropriate referencing words and transition markers to guide the reader clearly through the progression of the argument from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer attempts some less common and topic-specific vocabulary such as 'accomodate', 'contruction', 'designated', and 'redevelopment', but noticeable errors in word form, choice, and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical slips include 'apartmet blocks' instead of apartment blocks, 'postive aspect' instead of positive aspects, and 'accuired' instead of acquired. Additionally, collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'The major issue we saw from government in collection of tax'. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate more precise word choices, and ensure that spelling and word forms are consistently accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader. Sentence structures are often overly long and tangled, such as the opening sentence: 'To accomodate people in any large cities is to build a tall apartmet blocks or enough homes, we saw a major opinion on this issues which one suit best in the interest of peole.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles, including 'the cities which build tall high rise apartment' and 'the cost of contruction for individual buyer is very less'. Punctuation control is also weak, with missing commas and run-on structures. To progress, the writer must practice using a secure mix of simple and complex sentence forms with accurate grammatical boundaries and agreement.
