Student answer (Band 5.5)
Homes are the safe place for the individuals. The most efficient way to provide homes in the large metropolitan areas is to build tall apartment blocks. I partially agree with this notion and will elaborate it with relevant examples.
To begin with, there are significant positive impact to build homes in the urban ares because it provides various opportunities to individual which makes their life more comfortable. One of the main reason is that government and public developers can make these apartment in less areas without use excessive amount of land. Moreover, it facilitate individuals to pay the expenses of apartment easily due to less rent and it provides equal facilities as compared to flats. For instance, middle class families can easily afford the rent of apartment. Additionally, it makes the life of individual more comfortable because there are healthcare, market, technology and transport facilities closer to them.
Although, these apartments are beneficial for the people but due to large areas there are more facilities needed such as electrictiy, water supply, living cost and other bills for the maintainance of these blocks. Therefore, it increase the stress of the owner to take care of several functions and most of the people prefers private homes because it provides more safety and comfortable life.
To recapitulate, I think it is the good idea to make these apartment for public. Most vital aspect is that with proper planning and good functioning of various facilities can make the life of individuals more comfortable and relaxed. It also reduced the burden of various houses and it provides more areas for living with good conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by stating a partial agreement with the statement about building tall apartment blocks in large cities. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding urban opportunities and reduced land usage is briefly touched upon in phrases like 'government and public developers can make these apartment in less areas without use excessive amount of land,' but it lacks thorough extension and specific real-world examples. Similarly, the counterargument concerning utility costs and maintenance is introduced but not fully explored. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present well-developed main ideas with fully supported arguments and specific, detailed examples throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic logical structure and overall arrangement evident through the use of standard introductory and concluding paragraphs, along with transitional markers like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Although'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical or repetitive cohesive devices. Referencing can also be unclear, such as the pronoun shifts and vague connections between sentences in the second body paragraph, where the transition from apartment benefits to utility expenses feels abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires more sophisticated links and a clearer flow of thought to achieve a smoother overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to discuss urban housing topics with terms such as 'metropolitan areas', 'public developers', and 'healthcare'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as writing 'positive impact to build' instead of 'positive impacts of building', and 'in less areas without use excessive amount of land'. Spelling errors and awkward word choices appear, but they do not completely impede communication. To improve, the writer should incorporate a wider range of less common lexical items with greater precision in style and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response relies on a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, articles, and plurals, such as 'Homes are the safe place', 'make these apartment in less areas', and 'it increase the stress'. Additionally, preposition use within grammatical patterns requires better control. While these errors rarely completely impede understanding, they occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited range of reliable grammatical structures.
