Student answer (Band 5.0)
Big cities have a huge population living there. There's already so much rush of traffic. People have their own vehicles to travel here and there. While there can be both rented and own houses of the people who are living in a big city. There can be tall buildings and appartment there. Sometimes people who have multiple portions in their homes they put their house on rent which gives them money.
If we talk about the appartments in a huge and tall building then it would be a great option for the people because there will be more space and houses for the people who wants to live and facilitate themselves in a big city. It can also saves the space and monthly expenditures of the people who don't have enough money to survive. Either for the students who belong to a different city. Because, if you are living in a separate home on a ground then it will increase your monthly expenses too so this apartment idea can be good both for govt and citizens. It can saves the electricity costs also because if you are living in a big house rather than a small apartment their can be extra lights and bulbs that you are using to illuminate your home. While there can be different consequences. Because sometimes these apartments only suites to the people who have a small family. On the other hand, if you have a joint family there can some issues in accomodation.
In conclusion, building of tall apartments blocks in a big city can be good and have postive impacts too but depend on the people's approach of living wether they having a big or small family or either they can afford the expenses of separate house.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially, focusing more on general housing conditions and financial savings rather than fully debating the extent of agreement with building tall apartments. The position is not always clearly maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, particularly when discussing traffic or family structures in the middle paragraphs. For instance, mentioning that people have their own vehicles or that multi-portion homes are put on rent touches upon urban living, but these points are not sufficiently tied back to whether tall apartment blocks are the best solution for housing shortages. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present a more developed, focused argument that directly tackles the prompt's core premise with fully elaborated supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation present, but the essay lacks a clear overall progression from beginning to end. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions between ideas can be abrupt and disjointed, as seen when shifting suddenly from electricity costs to family sizes in the second body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and sometimes inaccurately, such as the frequent reliance on 'while there can be' or 'because' at the start of sentences. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical thread of the arguments. Improving paragraph structure and utilizing a wider variety of accurate transition signals would significantly enhance the overall flow of the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic points about housing and expenses. The writer attempts some less common terms and phrases like 'monthly expenditures', 'facilitate themselves', and 'consequences', but these are occasionally accompanied by noticeable word choice and spelling errors, such as 'appartment', 'suites', and 'postive'. These lexical inaccuracies sometimes cause minor difficulty or hesitation for the reader. To improve in this area, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to natural collocations and word forms, and ensure accurate spelling of common academic and descriptive terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or loosely connected clauses. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty, such as 'Because, if you are living in a separate home on a ground then it will increase your monthly expenses too so this apartment idea can be good both for govt and citizens.' Frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and articles are present throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'apartments only suites' and tense inconsistencies. These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and indicate that grammatical control needs considerable strengthening, particularly regarding clause subordination and punctuation rules.
