Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response only partially addresses the prompt and fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 151 words instead of the required 250. The student attempts to discuss living in tall apartment blocks by mentioning convenience and accessibility, such as proximity to 'Shopping malls and barber shops, grocessary shops', but the ideas remain very limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the writing trails off mid-sentence at the end ('They have 2 to 3 rooms and'), leaving the argument completely unresolved. To improve toward the next band, the student must write a complete essay that fully explores both sides of the argument with extended, fully supported examples and adhere strictly to the word count minimum.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The text displays some basic organizational structure with rudimentary transitional phrases like 'In my opinion' and 'On the other hand', but it lacks an overall clear progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph breaks off abruptly. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are inadequate or used repetitively, such as the repeated use of 'On the other hand'. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to ensure that every paragraph contains a complete, logically developed idea, and that cohesive devices are used smoothly and accurately to connect sentences and paragraphs without mechanical repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice and spelling errors such as 'convinient', 'appartment', 'opputurnity', and 'grocessary'. While the student attempts some less common words, noticeable errors in spelling and collocation indicate a limited range that struggles to convey precise meaning. To reach the next level, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, learn accurate spelling of common topic-related vocabulary, and demonstrate a greater ability to use less common lexical items with appropriate collocations and minimal errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures alongside faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, punctuation, and sentence boundaries, such as run-on sentences and missing capitalization ('block. In my opinion, If we build...'). For instance, the phrase 'He must will have more opputurnity' demonstrates poor control over modal and auxiliary verbs. To move up to the next band, the student needs to develop better control over basic sentence construction, reduce the frequency of grammatical errors, and successfully incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex structures.
