Student answer (Band 5.5)

In large cities, the best solution to growing demands for homes is apartment buildings. I strongly agree with this statement, because it take less space but able to accomodate more people and another reason is affordibilty .

With increase in population, demands for home also growing. And everyone wants to live in cities. Archiecture build tall building where more number of people can live which we call apartments. some Apartments can have 30 stories and more. As it was design to grow vertical rather than horizontally, and take less space. young people prefer to live in top and middle floor while older prefer bottom floor as it will be easiler for them to enter or exit. For example, In dubai, which is a buisness hub, peoople from all over the world comes and stays, and to accomodate such large population, builders prefers to build more apartment which consume less space

Another reason, people prefers to live in tall building is affordablity. People can easily able to afford the one or two bhk apartment rather than purchasing a home. yearly there is maintaince cost which every one in the apartment need to pay, and cost is very minimal. if something need to fix something, poeple does not need to spend out from their pocket, whereas a person who lives in flat, if something broke then he/she have to pay huge sum of money for repair it. For example, Every apartment comes with facilities such as centeralized AC, if someone complaint it is not working for them, then they don't need to spend out from their pocket to repair it.

In conclusion, I completely agree, with increasing in population, tall apartment buiklding is best way to have accomodate more people

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the prompt and supporting it with reasons related to space efficiency and affordability. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the point about vertical growth and land saving is reasonably clear, the discussion on affordability relies on repetitive explanations regarding maintenance costs rather than exploring broader economic impacts. Certain arguments, such as the example of Dubai, are somewhat general and would benefit from deeper extension to fully satisfy the requirements of higher bands. Nevertheless, the main message remains relevant throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible progression of ideas, opening with an introduction, moving through two body paragraphs focused on space and affordability respectively, and concluding appropriately. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct main points. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally mechanical or faulty. The use of transitional markers is basic, and some referencing is unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in phrases like 'if something broke then he/she have to pay'. While the organisational structure provides a clear path for the reader, the mechanics of linking ideas require greater flexibility.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to convey basic arguments about housing and urban living. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'accommodate' and 'maintenance', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable word-form and spelling errors, such as 'accomodate', 'affordibilty', and 'buisness'. There are also instances of awkward word choice and collocation, including 'archiecture build tall building'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur frequently throughout the text, though they generally do not impede the overall communication of ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is limited by frequent errors in basic structures, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'it take less space', 'demands for home also growing', and 'if something need to fix something'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misplaced commas and spacing errors. While some complex sentences are successfully formed, the accumulation of structural and agreement errors causes occasional difficulty for the reader and prevents the attainment of a higher band.
