Student answer (Band 5.0)
The unique way to give enough houses in huge cities is to construct tall apartment blocks. and heres what i recommend that having tall buildings in large cities instead of having homes because it would take less space and provide large space for plants, gardens and greenery. To a large extent, i totally agree with this statement and here i will discuss it in this essay.
However, It is considered to be having tall buildings in a large cities where enough of people could live large buildings where it has multiple apartment blocks. it also provides enough space for other citizens and leaves envirnoment clean and healthy. most of people do gardening and put plants around the balcony for the better oxygen in the air. For instance, Dubaii has alot of tall buildings for the many people to have their own space and to adjust.
Secondly, It really does create poplution around the large cities because having homes would be really congesting for people to adjust. Moreover the roads also become really crowded because of traffic. people would get more facilities and improve commuication skills while living in one tall building. Every other tall building has grocery shops, Malls and Pharmacies.
To conculsion, we all should have tall buildings in large cities because it do minimize the space and can build large roads. and give more facilities to people and having large roads helps tu reduce traffic in future and do not make the environment polluted. instead it keeps the environment healthy and clean.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially, taking a clear position of strong agreement with the prompt. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that tall buildings save space for greenery and plants, and briefly cites Dubai as an example, but this point lacks sufficient elaboration and depth. Similarly, the second body paragraph attempts to argue that traditional homes create population congestion and traffic, but the link between tall apartment blocks and improved communication skills is unclear and inadequately supported. The main arguments are stated rather than extended, meaning the response sits at a level where ideas are only partially explored.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text displays some overall organisation, attempting an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the flow is disrupted by mechanical and inadequate cohesive devices. For example, paragraphs begin with basic transitional markers like 'However' and 'Secondly', but the internal connections between sentences are often disjointed. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun shift in the opening sentence ('and heres what i recommend...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks logical sequencing, leading to a repetitive structure where points about space, the environment, and facilities overlap without a smooth narrative transition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'envirnoment' instead of environment, 'Dubaii' instead of Dubai, and 'poplution' instead of population. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'congesting' and 'minimise', but these are often used with inappropriate collocations or word forms. Phrases like 'give enough houses' and 'adjust' demonstrate a restricted lexical range that struggles to express precise meanings, placing the response firmly within a basic tier of vocabulary control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response uses a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex attempts. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. Sentence boundaries are frequently mishandled, evidenced by lowercase beginnings after periods, missing capital letters for proper nouns and pronouns, and run-on structures like 'blocks. and heres what i recommend'. Furthermore, there are recurrent issues with articles ('the large cities'), prepositions ('around the balcony'), subject-verb agreement ('it do minimize'), and awkward relative clauses. Complex sentence forms are attempted but are consistently faulty.
