Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are pros and cons in either of decisions.firstly,i would extend my view on agreeing to building tall apartments in large cities since it ciyld accomodate large number of people in one single tower, apartments are much more affordable than an independent house and builders provide convenient bank loans which are payed easily by middle class people too..this has led to improve the local businesses and restaurants. many townships offer variety of amenities and activities too which are enjoyed by residents while the cons of tall apartment buidings include populatiin surge, deforestration and turning cities to concrete jungles which has significantly changed the temperatures globally..the convenience of buying apartments has made people from towns and villages to shift in large cities for better opportunities and made cities crowded .we rarely get to see parks and wide public places to walk ,play around or have fun.concrete jungles has made the habitants of jungles to enter the residential areas like we got tonsee in news lately about cheetah and a bear another time which has hurt humans.while the animals are not the problem but we humans are the culprits for not leaving a home for them to live.the pollution and long traffic jams are a thing to be ignored. The nature ,parks and fairs ,we as children enjoyed backthen is now replaced with play zone areas in a concrete mall.I wish the government introduce schemes to protect and improve the habitat by taking measures to control the pollution and also physical health which is being affected..and also by not approving the permission for dwforestration to build tall towees

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of building tall apartment blocks in large cities, providing a personal stance on the matter. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. While you mention relevant points such as accommodation capacity, affordability, urbanization, and environmental impacts like deforestation and wildlife displacement, these ideas are presented as a continuous string of thoughts rather than being fully extended and supported with clear examples or explanations. For instance, the mention of wildlife entering residential areas is introduced briefly without connecting it back thoroughly to the core issue of urban housing strategies. To move to a higher level, you should ensure that each main point—such as economic benefits or ecological consequences—is allocated its own paragraph and supported with detailed elaboration and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay lacks clear overall progression and suffers significantly from a lack of proper paragraphing. The entire response is written as one long, dense block of text, which makes it very difficult for the reader to follow the logical development of your arguments. Although you attempt to transition between ideas using words like 'firstly' and 'while', the cohesive devices used are generally inadequate and mechanical. Pronoun referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when shifting abruptly between different arguments without clear signposts. To improve, you must organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs—an introduction, clear body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion—and use cohesive ties more naturally to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey your general meaning regarding urban living. You make attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'populatiin surge', 'deforestration', 'concrete jungles', and 'habitats', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in spelling, word form, and word choice that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For example, terms like 'payed' instead of 'paid', 'shift in' instead of 'shift to', and 'dwforestration' detract from the precision of your writing. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and exercise greater accuracy in spelling and word formation, ensuring that less common lexical items are used naturally and correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on long, run-on sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions or punctuation errors rather than proper syntactic control. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the government introduce' instead of 'introduces'), articles ('in either of decisions' instead of 'in either decision'), prepositions, and capitalization. Additionally, punctuation is poorly managed, with spaces missing after commas and periods. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and obscure the relationships between clauses. To improve, you should focus on breaking down overly long sentences, ensuring correct verb tenses and agreement, and paying closer attention to basic punctuation rules.
