Student answer (Band 5.5)
One of the ways to offer homes to those who are homeless is to construct enormous apartments in highly urbanised metropolises. I wholeheartedly agree with this notion, it is the only way to manage over-populated areas in cities.
To begin with, the cities population is surging to a substantial extent from a few decades, while the local managments or authorities experiences hardships in this regard and also busy in searching for vital ways to sort out these issues. Furthermore, one of the solutions is to make vast apartments for the individuals who are currently facing housing crisis. Although, it requires some useful strategies to execute this imagination into practical work; for this purpose, governments and local authorities utilize the barren grounds which are lying empty nearby different cities. Prime instances of those countries especially Pakistan and India, who are experiencing over-crowding hurdles in their cities, they may sort out these troubles by turning barren grounds into newly established apartments.
In addition, this scheme is not only offers houses to individuals but also becomes a source of income for many people. In fact, In this regard, both privates and governments sectors could collaborate each other, due to the fact that these projects require a lot of attention and budget and only goverments could never complete these projects lonely, that is why private sectors may imperative. Another distinguished role is required for construction and that is the role of labours. Indeed, a huge group of workers may facilitate these projects by working day and night on them.
To put it briefly, although people are homeless nowadays, with the collaboration of different organizations, this probelm could be sorted out by making effective and efficient strategies. Likewise, it would not only prove beneficial for the general populace who lives without houses but also for the labours who earn their livlihood from these types of projects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance agreeing with the statement, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. While the writer mentions the rising population and suggests turning barren grounds into apartments—citing Pakistan and India as examples—these points lack sufficient explanation and depth. Furthermore, some arguments shift focus slightly, such as discussing job creation for labourers and private-public partnerships rather than focusing entirely on housing solutions in large cities. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be fully extended and supported with more specific reasoning and relevant examples rather than general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the response is divided into logical paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used throughout the text, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition', showing clear attempts to guide the reader. However, some referencing is not always clear, and certain cohesive links feel mechanical or repetitive. The transition between ideas within paragraphs could also be smoother to establish a truly clear progression throughout the entire text, which is characteristic of the next band up.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to discuss the topic of urban housing. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'urbanised metropolises', 'surging', and 'general populace'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, including 'managments', 'privates... sectors', and 'livlihood'. These errors, alongside occasional awkward phrasing like 'turning barren grounds into newly established apartments', show the limitations of the lexical range at this level, though they do not completely impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence forms alongside attempts at complex sentences. However, these attempts at complex structures are often faulty, as seen in run-on sentences and punctuation errors, such as 'I wholeheartedly agree with this notion, it is the only way...' and comma splices. There are frequent grammatical errors regarding subject-verb agreement ('the cities population is surging', 'authorities experiences'), article usage, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a grammar profile that requires greater accuracy and a wider variety of error-free complex sentences.
