Student answer (Band 4.5)
Yes maybe it is good way but it but the way is not enough for the people and for the providing the homes in the large cities.Because when we build tall apartment blocks in the large cities the people are not surviving in these apartments in the best way because some of the people are not happy to live on the top floors and some are not happy to live in the middle and some are not happy to live in the first one so these type of the people always be angry on it. And when we build tall apartment block for people living that's apartment are not will be more attracted for the people and for the big cities because many of the visitors are comes to the big citiesfor the visiting and when they see that everywhere build the tall apartments block for the people lives that is not good attraction for them. In the big cities the tall apartments builds just in the specific areas for the people living not the the everywhere. So, if we think that we should build it then should it in just specific areas not everywhere and in the best way is that we should make the colonies and make the small homes like for five marlas for the living and make make it everywhere for the people living. That's will be have attraction for the visitors and for the people and it also gives the more facilities for the people who living in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt minimally, presenting a position that high-rise apartments are not the best solution because residents may be unhappy on certain floors and tourists dislike them. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the text. For instance, the argument regarding people being unhappy living on the top, middle, or first floors lacks elaboration, and the alternative suggestion of building small homes like 'five marlas' is introduced without sufficient explanation of how it addresses the overarching need for housing in large cities. The development tends to rely on repetitive assertions rather than extended, well-supported arguments. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to explore fewer ideas in greater depth, offering clear, relevant examples and a more coherent line of reasoning regarding urban housing strategies.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response lacks clear overall progression and organization. The entire text is presented as a single, dense paragraph, failing to use paragraphing effectively to structure distinct ideas such as the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion. While basic cohesive devices like 'Because', 'And', and 'So' are used, they are repetitive and sometimes handled inaccurately, which hinders the logical flow between sentences. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'that apartment are not will be more attracted'. Moving forward, the writer must ensure that ideas are grouped into logical paragraphs with clear topic sentences and that a wider variety of cohesive devices are employed smoothly to guide the reader through the argument without mechanical repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms and phrases such as 'big cities', 'people living', and 'tall apartments block'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, including phrases like 'not will be more attracted' and 'gives the more facilities'. These inaccuracies restrict the lexical range to a minimally adequate level for conveying the core message. While the attempt to introduce specific local terms like 'five marlas' shows some awareness of personal context, the overall control of word forms and phrasing remains restricted. To improve, the writer should actively expand their vocabulary by learning standard collocations, practicing correct word forms for nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and avoiding the constant recycling of the same basic words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of run-on sentences and repetitive sentence structures linked by conjunctions like 'and' and 'because'. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('visitors is comes', 'apartment are not will be'), article usage ('on the first one'), and verb tenses ('everywhere build', 'should it in just specific areas'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. To achieve a stronger performance, the writer must work on constructing clear, independent clauses, improving punctuation to break up long, convoluted sentences, and ensuring consistent accuracy in basic verb forms and agreements.
