Student answer (Band 5.0)
Population in large cities increase every year.Providing enough homes in big cities is a big challange nowadays.I strongly agree that tall apartment blocks is best way to beat this challange.
First reason is Building Expenditures. Tall Building costs less as compared to spacious short buildings.Half of budget can be used to increase no of floors in the same building as compared to to build ground floor in some other place. For example, if we build two short apartments instead of one tall apartment. The cost of electricity, water, gas, internet bills will be more in two separate apartments as compared to one tall aprtment. For two short separate buildings, our expaenditure on main entrance will be doubled as comapred to one tall.
Second reason is managment. Managing a tall apartment is easier and accomodates larger people as compared to short apartments. Floor no can be inreased easily in taller building and maximum people can be accomodated in eacg floor.in one or other way, increasing no of building is nott a good option.Building tall apartments is easier and more reliable solution of this challnge.
In conclusion i would say tall apartment provides enough homes in larger cities as compared to more no of apartments.Budget, Managment,Facilities are key reasons for this.I strongly agree on building tall apartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on building tall apartment blocks, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout. While you present reasons like building expenditures and management, your explanations lack sufficient supporting detail or specific real-world examples, relying instead on vague generalisations. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 214 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. To reach a higher band, you need to extend your arguments with deeper elaboration and ensure you meet the required word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation to the response, with basic paragraphing and simple transitions like 'First reason is' and 'Second reason is'. However, there is no clear overall progression across the essay as a whole, and the flow is somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices are repetitive and occasionally inaccurate, such as 'in one or other way' and 'in eacg floor', which makes the transitions feel mechanical rather than natural. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, making it harder for the reader to follow your train of thought. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive links and ensure your paragraphs connect more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'expenditures', 'reliable solution', and 'accomodates', but this is offset by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form. For instance, words like 'challange', 'aprtment', and 'managment' are misspelled, and phrases like 'maximum people can be accomodated' lack natural collocation. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, you should expand your range of vocabulary and focus on accurate spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response shows a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in complex forms. There are notable issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Population in large cities increase' and 'tall apartment blocks is best way', as well as missing articles, as seen in 'is best way to beat this challange'. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, with run-on phrasing and spacing issues like 'In conclusion i would say'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally decode your meaning. To progress, you should work on mastering basic grammatical rules and incorporating accurate complex sentence patterns.
