Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that tall apartment blocks is the best method to provide enough homes in big cities.I partially agree with this view.
It is widely believed that tall apartment should be build to provide enough homes to people.Due to fact it builds on a small place and not use large lands for building. They believe in one tall building provide many homes to public. To illustrate this that if government provides separate houses to each family it consumes a lot of land which is mightly impossible in big cities. However,in cities there is no huge space for people.Secondly,if government builds tall building on one place instead of providing each houses to each families. It costs a lot of budget which became a problem for government. So tall building costs a little budget.A clear example is that through tall building it saves a electricity, water and a lot of money because government only provide these resources on one place.
In contrast , in tall apartment blocks there is no playground for children and places for specially elder people where they exercise and walk
Addtionally , it reduces a public attraction with each other .For instance, if they lived in one tall apartment , they have no space for people for people to communicate with each other. Because in society communication is a key for having good relationship with each other . So interactions is a very important .
In conclusion, provide enough homes in large cities in one tall building would be a good step for saving resources and money but i believed that it also has some drawback where government should focus on building apartment blocks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially, presenting a position that agrees with the prompt to some extent, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that tall blocks save land and resources, stating, 'through tall building it saves a electricity, water and a lot of money', but these supporting points lack depth and clear elaboration. Similarly, the counterpoints regarding the lack of playgrounds and reduced social interaction are introduced rather briefly without fully exploring the sociological impacts. To reach the next level, the writer needs to extend their main ideas further with more substantial supporting arguments and relevant examples throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation in the essay, with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the use of basic transition markers such as 'Secondly', 'In contrast', and 'Additionally'. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression between ideas, and paragraphing is occasionally handled mechanically. Furthermore, referencing and cohesive devices are at times inadequate or repetitive, seen in phrases like 'because in society communication is a key for having good relationship with each other . So interactions is a very important .' To improve, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between sentences and establish a stronger logical flow that guides the reader seamlessly from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'resources' and 'interaction', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text, such as 'mightly impossible', 'saves a electricity', and 'public attraction'. Spelling and word formation errors also occur, which can occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to build a wider and more flexible lexical range, paying closer attention to collocations, appropriate word forms, and precision in word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that turn out faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, including subject-verb agreement issues ('tall apartment should be build', 'interactions is a very important'), missing or incorrect articles ('saves a electricity'), and awkward prepositional phrases. These errors can cause occasional difficulty and strain for the reader. To move up to the next band, the writer must increase the variety of error-free complex sentence forms and demonstrate better control over basic grammatical patterns, punctuation, and tense consistency.
