Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is argued that, building the tall buildings in cities is the only solution for providing enough homes in larger cities. I partially agree with the statement because the appartments can hold more number of houses over the individual houses, but it is not the appropriate solution for this problem.
I agree with the statement because building the tall buildings can sort out the problem that to give more number of homes in the limited land. The main reason for this is to use the place effeciently by scalability. If we build appartments in stead of individual house then accomidation can be given to more people. For instance, consider a company having 250 employees and mangement need to provide accomidation for the employees. Though it does not cost huge amount to construct an appartment rather than individual houses.
I partially agree with the solution that causes overcrowding and pressure on services and quality-of-life concerns. Although constructing the tall buuilding costs lower but it come up with the new problems like overcrowding and pressure on services. Where it is not possible to provide service to all the blocks in an appartment. For instance, consider there is water problem or electrical problem, then is not easy to manage the pressure form the owners and mangement. The another reason would be quality-of-life, in tall buildings the constuction should be done according to the protocols like providing water to every flat in case fire accidents if not the constuction should be seized.
In conclusion, constructing tall buildings is not the solution for providing enough homes in larger cities. Management need to consider about providing service and quality-of-life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt partially, presenting a position that is somewhat contradictory, as the student states they partially agree in the introduction but concludes that constructing tall buildings is not the solution. Ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument about efficiency in the second paragraph relies on a vague corporate accommodation example without fully exploring broader urban planning realities. Similarly, the points regarding overcrowding and infrastructure pressure in the third paragraph are introduced with examples that lack clear elaboration, such as the mention of water and electrical problems without connecting them back to a sustained argument about city-wide housing solutions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some basic organization with discernible introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, with distinct sections for agreeing and disagreeing aspects, yet the internal flow within paragraphs feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently inaccurate or mechanical, such as starting body paragraphs with formulaic phrases like 'I agree with the statement because' and transitioning awkwardly with 'The another reason would be'. Referencing between sentences is occasionally unclear, making it harder for the reader to follow the logical development of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about housing and cities. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation that occasionally cause difficulty or distraction for the reader. Examples include spelling errors like 'appartments', 'effeciently', 'buuilding', and 'constuction'. Furthermore, phrasing such as 'hold more number of houses', 'give more number of homes', and 'costs lower' demonstrate unnatural collocations and awkward word choices that reflect a restricted lexical range typical of this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Article errors are widespread, such as 'building the tall buildings' and 'in tall buildings the constuction should be done'. Preposition and verb pattern errors also appear frequently, including 'costs lower instead of individual house' and 'management need to consider about'. Additionally, awkward relative and conditional clauses, such as 'then is not easy to manage' and 'if not the constuction should be seized', show weak control over complex syntax.
