Student answer (Band 5.5)
I do not agree at all with the statement which says that the best solution of housing crisis in metropolitons in to build tall apartment blocks.
Problem is, Tall buildings usually has higher rental prices in large cities. That is why only solvent people can be seen living at buildings with 10 floors or above. The usually pay something between 30 to 50 thousands and above in Bangladesh. Which is a very large amount. Considering the area the building is built in, the quality of the apartment, the number of rooms and many other factors impact the rent.
Lower and upper middle class citizens mosly live in apartments with maximum 5 to 7 floors. In the premise of Bangladesh, rents of these apartment blocks usually hover around 10 to 30 thousands. Again the many factors are considered while deciding the rent.
Whereas, lower class people live at the slum beside those tall buildings. These people can not pay high rents. They mostly pay for a single room and a community bathroom and kitchen. They pay something between 1 to 10 thousands.
So, the housing crisis can never be solved with just building tall apartment blocks. The best way to solve this problem is, decentering the job market from the big cities. Most of the time, people come to these cities from other places to search for jobs. If they can find jobs from their own countryside, they won't come to these big cities in in the first place. The housing problem won't arise this way.
Also, More healthcare and education services should be provided outside urban areas. People tend to depend on these cities for their children's good education and their health. They leave their own houses and suffer to find houses in big cities at a reasonable price.
Moreover, If rents of the apartments could be lessen in some ways, the crisis would be solved.
So, there are other things to do solve the housing crisis in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all parts of the task by presenting a clear position against the statement and offering alternative solutions, such as decentralising the job market. Your ideas are relevant, but some are under-developed or presented without sufficient extension, such as your brief points regarding healthcare and education services. While you effectively present local context from Bangladesh to support your argument, the development tends to be somewhat repetitive when discussing rental price brackets across different floors. To reach a higher level, you need to fully develop all of your supporting arguments with deeper explanations and more comprehensive examples rather than relying on brief assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance presented from the introduction through to the conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'So', 'Also', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas, although their usage can sometimes feel a bit mechanical and repetitive. Paragraphing is used throughout the essay to separate different ideas, such as your breakdown of rental prices for various social classes. However, the logical progression between paragraphs could be smoother, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt transition when introducing slum housing. To improve cohesion, you should employ a wider and more flexible range of linking devices and ensure seamless transitions between your main arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common vocabulary such as 'solvent people', 'decentering', and 'metropolitons'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'premise' instead of 'context' or 'perspective', and 'lessen' instead of 'lessened' or 'reduced'. You also include some spelling and morphological slips like 'metropolitons'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they prevent you from achieving a higher band score. To improve, you need to focus on precise word choice, accurate collocations, and proper word forms to discuss housing and urban issues more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms to express your ideas, such as conditional structures and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that appear throughout the text. These include issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Tall buildings usually has' and 'apartment blocks usually hover', as well as article omissions and misuse, such as 'in slum' or 'in in the first place'. Prepositional usage inside grammatical patterns also shows recurring inaccuracies. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex structures.
