Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks and states a clear position strongly agreeing with the statement. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the essay. While the writer touches on economic growth and affordable housing, these points are not fully expanded with strong, detailed arguments or concrete examples beyond a brief personal mention of living in Pakistan. The generalisations made, such as claiming that living together makes love, prosperity, and joy, lack adequate explanation or logical extension. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with robust supporting arguments and well-elaborated examples rather than relying on brief, repetitive assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with attempts at paragraphing to separate different points, such as the introduction of ideas in the opening, followed by two body paragraphs and a concluding remark. However, there is no clear overall progression of thought, and the transitions between sentences feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or inaccurate, with mechanical and repetitive links like 'furthermore', 'moreover', and 'secoundly'. Pronoun referencing and logical connections between ideas are frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the flow of the argument. Improving paragraph structure and using a wider range of appropriate, accurate cohesive markers would enhance the overall logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of awkward phrasing and non-standard collocations include 'manufacturing the apartmental blocks', 'growth on the economies', and 'population satlement'. Spelling mistakes are frequent, such as 'strognly', 'acording', 'icrease', 'laibility', 'standerd', 'smalls', 'secoundly', 'crowed', 'becouse', 'wokeup', 'diffrent', 'acknowdge', and 'thery'. To progress, the writer needs to expand their lexical range beyond basic terms, pay closer attention to correct word forms and collocations, and work on accurate spelling to ensure smoother communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical structures used are very limited, consisting mostly of basic sentences, and attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty and incomplete. There are persistent errors in verb forms and tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text, such as 'some of the countiries has the poverty' and 'every rich person or businesmen who can take the participate'. Punctuation is also poorly managed, with missing capitalisation, misplaced spaces, and run-on sentences that lack proper boundary markers. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate a better control over basic sentence construction, reduce the frequency of grammatical errors, and successfully incorporate a wider variety of accurate complex sentence forms.
